Wedding black For Lori Do you wear black in dreams of me, or the green rings of your eyes? The red flicker of candle bowls? The white opaque of clouds nearby? Do you wear the blue of sky? The dusty glow of melting snow? The browning shadows of close branches? The muddy banks of river flow? Do you wear the gray of stone? The rainbow scales of butterfly? The hanging spectrum of horizon? See-through cells in multiply? I can see a glint of rain. A falling presence to the pane. Where we meet and coalesce. Cloud-placed marbles on your dress. She said burn ... together. |

Do you wear the gray of stone? The rainbow scales of butterfly? The hanging spectrum of horizon? See-through cells in multiply? This is way way beyond cool, Mr.Squirrel... I love how you wrote this one. ~ furry rodent hugs Lyra |

Glad you all enjoyed this sorta companion piece to Funeral white. (I just realized there's rain in both poems ... hmm) Anyway, thanks! Glad you all enjoyed. I noticed that my "Funeral white" poem is more popular! Hmm ... does this mean people prefer funerals to weddings? Interesting! Thanks, all. She said burn ... together. |

Truth to be told, I've been to one funeral in my life, and I was only 8 then, so all I remember was the gathering after, where I was standing outside with my cousins, watching crickets, while the adults were inside drinking alcohol and every once in a while coming out to make sure us kids hadn't started fighting with each other. Oh, and at the funeral itself, my mom never got to see the body (Dad's father), 'cause she was holding my hand the entire time, and I freaked out and refused to look in the coffin. Almost went hysterical. And I didn't even own any black then, 'cept the costume I wore fr my 8th birthday. And I don't think I've ever owned white. But I've never been to any weddings, so hey. 'Do you wear the gray of stone? The rainbow scales of butterfly? The hanging spectrum of horizon? See-through cells in multiply?' I picked lines just because it's an obsession, but this entire poem is beautiful...I love the color imagery and intent...your writing is awesome! sp I've been down this road forever, |
