A Time to Dream She gets up early, goes to work, comes home and cleans, feeds children meals, has never really chased a dream, does not know how to do so feels. She watches tv, shower, gets, then brushes teeth and goes to bed. turns on her side, her sex life dull. She once had dreams, but now they’re dead. So stealthily the years have passed, as lines have deepened in her face. Her wedding gown in the hope chest, now musty satin, trimmed in lace. And musty has her life become, routine of days with nothing new. She rests in bed while husband snores. Just what is she supposed to do? The years will pass and she will die. The last words on her breath will be, “This was the only life I had and failed to reserve time for me.” I watch her life now flicker out. No longer will we see its glow. She gave to all, but not to self. Too late, now dreams she’ll never know. |

Michael I guess many woman can see a piece of themseves in this poem. You see with truth eyes..and I can see her life so easily through your words. These were her choices though, it seems...and perhaps it's not just a bad dream. |

Excellent write Michael... Women should take time to find and be themselves.. It is far too easy to lose one's own identity when marrying. Sad but true... ~Hugs! ~Somewhere in my heart I'm always |

Michael, only you could understand and verbalize how a housewife spends her life. This is so true, in so many ways, and sad in it's truth. Life is too short to not take time to enjoy it's pleasures. The housework and chores will still be there later!! Great, great write, my dear friend.......and that is thanks from this housewife!!!!! Open the door and let your adventure begin!!! |

Gentle Spirit, Thank you much and glad you enjoyed. *hugs* Noah, Women in our society, even now, are forced to take a back seat while the man pursues his own dreams. Where's the equality in that? Thank you, my friend. Sandra, I'm glad you got something out of this. Thank you much and *hugs* Martie, I would suspect that most women have dreams beyond being a housewife and mother, though I am not putting down being either. Thanks! *hugs* Maureen, Yes, it truly is, isn't it? Thank you! Kethry, Just don't let dust collect on you. Always pursue your dreams. Thank you for reading this. Nancy, Yes, it is. Lyra, I'm so glad you enjoyed this and want to thank you for reading. Healing *hugs* my friend. Sunny, It's so nice to see you. It's been a long time.
