Poets In The Court

There’s a new statute on the books
Lawyers will now get strange looks
Their speeches which droned ever on
Now that boredom will be gone
From today when a lawyer speaks
Poetic rhymes they will seek
Can you just see the scene my friend?
Tedium is at an end

Wonderful have you heard the news
Lawyers paying poet dues
No more court reports that bore me
All replies are poetry
When answering the judge in court
Poetic words are now sought
Order in the court now will be
Expressed as pure poetry

Soft Senryu will gently drift
When discussing marriage rift
Rhymes line is right for larceny
And Free Verse suits perjury
What of murder I hear you say?
Haiku’s nature is the way
Poetry’s voice will now be heard
In the court’s poetic word

Thy coolness and they balm
Let sense be dumb let flesh retire
Speak through the eathquake wind and fire

Marsha! I do believe there are a few poets among us who will so Appreciate your Attempts at overthrowing the judicial system as we know it! Kudos to you!
