Opening the Door There was someone out the window Who took my name and played with it Mixed all the letters around Until I didn’t know who I spelled I remember seeing her play before In the wink between seasons On a day or two where there was blue And once when winter poured his heart She was all delight and whimsy A colt of prance across this arid place Looking for a river that would quench Something beyond thirst I threw her my best curve ball Blistering across the safety space And tagged her with my strong arm Pulsing sure of my spirit’s spring Yet she just hummed and tapped her fingers And then reached down to pick up a handful Of seconds that she tossed into the patio Where she sipped gusto And they came down round and whole Then rolled my way I knew she wanted me to see I was only partial For she could dance the way I dreamed And her voice locked soft with strong And I could see that she was complete In her beginning and her end Then I opened the door |

Martie - one of the reasons i like your poetry (and i do) is the solidity of it... your imagery, phrases, and concepts are all well formed... solid. quote:i think i've felt that before... but you said it perfectly. Chris |
