They said hurry up and add to this thread
Not one of them cared that I was half dead.
I’ve been to each store in old Cape Cod,
Clerks bow to me now not simply nod.



In Boston now I was in heaven
All the stores there were open ‘til seven.
Nan finally yelled, “Come on let’s go!”
She was off to the Cape, with me in tow.

In Pennsylvania the pace was slow
With buggies of Amish on the go.
I passed a field with farmer, plough and horse
I thought the horses were Clydesdales of course!
A horse is a horse, is a horse you see
To a city slicker such as me.

    

I was treated like family by Liz and her kin.
They fed me birthday cake and barbeque din-din.
She showed me the historical sties in her town,
As a tourist guide she is the best around.

    

    

Back to the Cape 8 hours on a bus
And they wondered why I made such a fuss?
Had I have known it was that far,
I’d rented me a driver and a fancy car!

Liz and I arrived to find Kit and Nan.
Hooray!  Just girls and not a single man.
Pizza was ordered and laughter was shared,
Off with the bras, as no one cared.

Another day of shopping, hip, hip, hooray!
Hoot Owl arrives, hey what a bonus day.
Four days of girl talk, no male bashers here.
Thursday brings Isabelle, Sy and Balladeer.

Hoot at Nan’s has been so much fun,
When the rest arrive the circle is done.

ROFL ... what on earth kind of meeting is that Sharon!  

Happy to be of service!

I felt that their small talk was nothing but rumors
That the ladies of Passions were after my bloomers!
A man of my stature deserves some respect
And, if I lost my undies, my name would be wrecked.

So I settled in bed for a nice peaceful sleep
Ever-vigilant ears not detecting a peep
Undies on, blanket-clad to offset evening chill
And, if anyone came, I was programmed to kill.

Around six I awoke with the coming of dawn
And, to my great surprise, my warm bloomers were gone!
Goosebumped legs were a-shiver and my toes were all froze
'Cause some cruel nogoodnick had stolen my clothes!!

Evil fiends! I'd been sleeping when they entered there
And, like thieves in the night, they took my underwear!
I was screaming out loud like a demon possessed
I accused every one but nobody confessed.

Room by room through the house I looked high and then low
I was thorough as Sherlock but they did not show.
All the while there was smiling and winking of eyes
And I just couldn't find them, to no one's surprise.

I walked out on the porch and I lit up a smoke.
When I looked at the flagpole, I started to choke!!
Flying high with the flags in the cold, morning air
Overlooking the water were my underwear!!



Ok, ladies, you win. You are smooth as can be
You were able to charm the pants right off of me!
Perhaps in the future, we'll again meet by chance
And, the next time we do, I'll hold on to my pants!!!!!

I'm leaving Nani's nest today;
I have to say 'Good-bye'
I'm homeward bound; I cannot stay
But I will never cry.

I'll only chuckle every time
I look back on these days,
For they have brought me so much joy
In very many ways.

The poets who might never know
Were there within my heart.
Already bound by seedlings sown
Of friendship from the start.

We're kind of like old Army buddies
With a common bond,
Old neighbor friends from childhood
Of whom we're very fond.

It's kind of like we're siblings
With bonds that never break,
Someone to share your laughter
Every victory or mistake.

It's as though we're of kindred heart;
We climbed a common tree.
We sat around a supper table;
We shared a family.

We snuggled into bed together,
Watched our favorite show.
In childhood days of wonderment,
Together we would grow.

And in among each poet's heart
There runs a common thread,
Woven through each verse we wrote
And every verse we read.

It's a common sensitivity,
A soft observant eye,
That sees aesthetic renderings
In sea and earth and sky.

It's a common sense of feelings,
The emotions of the past,
That form a living shadow
As our silhouette is cast.

It's a common trust that we impart
On page of pastel blue,
That wraps each poem in golden bows
And offers them to you.

And so one day, in Nani's nest
I met you in the flesh,
Already spun silver threads
That wove a common mesh.

Each kiss is for each poem you wrote,
Each hug for love implied,
Each act of friendship from the heart
For every time I cried.

We shared a lot of laughter
In an old New England town,
This gathering of army pals
Will never let you down.

The time has come for me to go;
I leave with all of you,
A corner of this tender heart
To help to see you through.

And I have taken part of yours.
It's harbored in my chest.
So you'll be with me my dear friends,
In every dream or quest.

I'll see you later in your verse,
I'll recognize it's you;
For I have come to know your heart
On screen of friendship blue.

Until each story's end.

I felt a warmth of admiration,
More than I can say …
Each time I saw your hand reach out
To write throughout the day.

How wonderful it was for me,
To listen as you read,

Sharon ... I felt the same way, we got ripped apart so fast! We must have looked like we'd lost our best friends boarding those planes, but I think thankfully instead ... what we've really done, is found them.
