So now I'm settled back into the life I knew before. All bags unpacked, clothes put away, with souvenirs galore. I see the lobster juice that stained my tennis shoes and smile I don't believe I want to clean it off for quite a while. The past five days were such a blur it's possible to feel Instead of actuality, they were more like surreal... Did names from off the pages blue assume a human face And find a way to slip out of their world in cyberspace? No, they are real, as are we all, and I thank God I met These new friends I shall never lose thanks to the internet. Say what you will of pitfalls that computers may provide My small Dell is a haven where a lot of friends reside. We shuffled in through Nan's back door and there they were to see.. Mysteria, Hoot, Liz and Kit, right there in front of me! These poets I'd admired so much all welcomed me and Sy So what the hell...I never said that Balladeers don't cry! Kit's not really ten feet tall like she is on the screen. Mysteria's got the brightest smile that I have ever seen! Hoot has a look of kindness that could warm the coldest heart And Liz is just as regal as the words her poems impart. I came to know these people in a very special way By sharing my own life with them as time passed, day by day. We laughed, we talked, we joked, we shared the problems that we had We gave support to Nancy for the illness of her dad. What a group of characters we had! I laughed so hard I thought that I would wind up in a psychiatric ward! Each person had some small peculiar traits that would come out Here's a few to show you all what I'm talking about. Mysteria had a magic trick we all came to adore.. Whenever she walked down the street she turned into a store!! For years along New England shores by glow of campfire light They'll sing about the lady who bought everything in sight! And Kit? Now there's a strange one! Over at the lobster store When she saw they were live she almost passed out on the floor! She had to go outside and sit to try to catch her breath.. Twas just too hard to look at lobsters right before their death. While she was sitting out there, one old fellow coming out Gave her the eye and dropped his bag of fish that thrashed about! At leering it was obvious this guy was a beginner.. We all know if you stare at Kit, you're apt to lose your dinner! The ferry out to Martha's Vineyard lasted half an hour But Hoot made good use of the time with her poetic power. While others sat impatiently to tie up at the pier Ruth sat and penned "This Poet's Heart" which she has posted here. That's the joy of writing poetry - one never need be bored. With pen in hand there's always some new thought to be explored. While others sit and twiddle thumbs a poet's mind inspires Its owner to come up with ways to light poetic fires. On Saturday the house was quiet as I walked inside. Kit was on the back porch, pen and paper at her side. Mysteria was in her room, practicing da-DUM da-DUM While Liz was working thoughtfully on treasures yet to come. Hoot sat with her notebook, writing verses, sure enough While Nan was on the 'puter doing moderator stuff Sy was sitting quietly, thoughts obviously deep.. It took me hours to realize that he was just asleep. I looked at these good friends of mine all working on their trade And felt a glowing pride at dedication they portrayed. They could have napped or sat around or maybe watched tv But THESE were poets....time was used to work on poetry. At night...these were the special times we sat by candlelight Reciting what we'd written in the cool New England night. Hoot, Sy and Liz were awesome with their stirring poetry And Nan was there to add a touch of Serendipity. Me? I lived a moment that's as good as this life gets By sitting side by side with Kit, reciting our duets. Two thousand miles apart we were when those lines had been done And there we were together, trading verses, one by one. I could have been on center stage - the Met or Carnegie And it would not have meant as much the way it did to me By sitting in Nan's living room surrounded by these friends All partners in this place we call a "haven without ends." There are so many other things to write of what was done.. The treasure hunt where Nan and Kit wrote clues in verse for fun.. The way that we all look like when we wake up in the morn The sound each person's heart makes when a poem is being born. But every play must have an end...the cast and crew are gone. The final bows are given and each life shall now move on But let me say once more before the final curtains fall I'll miss you, my dear poet friends...please know I love you all. |

Encore, encore, I LOVE IT!!! Oh Michael, I am delighted you had the most wonderful time of all, and that is why I spend so much time here at passions too, for you are all my friends are all truly brothers and sisters in spirit to me and I believe somehow we are joined in friendship's spirit! I just love how you summarized the five days here, I could never blame Kit, for I could never bear to watch lobsters cooked either, ooohhhhhh...what are you ever going to do about Mysteria's shop-hopping? LOL! I know how that must have felt too because whenever I go to the Boulder Mall, my sister spends about three hours in Banana Republic alone! (BIG HUGGGSSSSSS) It is a huge pleasure to read this fine conclusion to a timeless saga, sweet friend, I suggest you must publish this as a technical piece or a journal and you are bound to make sales off of it, of course with credit from all your Passions vacation friends! This is wonderful, sweet friend, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Balladeer, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton |

Ah Michael this was simply the best finale there could ever be. I was typing to Nan earlier and I said, "Nan, this is just too weird you being there and me being here, can I phone you because I want to hear you and I feel like you and I both need a hug." I will never get over you reciting all that poetry by heart, never. Oh and by the way, I figure I was pretty darn good once they put that timer on me at The Gap, well at least they applauded as I had 2 minutes left. By the way, I am as we "speak" picking up those funny styrofoam chips from everywhere in this house so I may just have learned my lesson. Michael by the way, I miss your antics with Isabelle more than you can ever imagine To the next time my friend, and meeting you was my pleasure. CONGRATULATIONS ON 11,~* Sharon *~ [This message has been edited by Mysteria (04-24-2002 12:25 AM).] |

This bit of poem took me on your magic carpet ride I felt as if I were there, right by all your sides I said the Sun would see again the magic of this trip, but seeing now I missed your mark of 11,000 grips! For grip us well you do, my friend, with every single write, you grip our hearts with mystery, whether read at day or night! You wield the pen so easily, I've heard it's now been said the poems come out perfectly straight from that silver head! Congratulations on this post, may there be so many more! Passions sits well by you when the 'Deer comes to its door! |

So now the truth is out, I'm only half of ten feet high, And when I saw a lobster thrashing, tears came to my eye ... And yes, it's true, the guy with dinner safely in his hand, Looked right at me, and down it fell onto the solid land. I must be rather hideous ... a scary sight to see, For after that, his friend dropped "his", while looking back at me ... Perhaps the shop should hire me, to sit out at their door ... If I make men lose dinner ... they can sell a whole lot more! ~*~ ROFL ... you make me smile Michael. This is a wonderful epilogue ... and I miss everyone a whole bunch. Thanks for the grins, the smiles, and the incredible opportunity to read with you side by side. Such beautiful memories I've brought home with me ... wonderful souvenirs of friendships that will last for eternity. Best wishes and great big hugs /Kit [This message has been edited by Kit McCallum (04-24-2002 07:21 AM).] |

’Deer dearest heart oh my word this is utterly utterly perfect, of course I expected it to be so, anything that carries your stamp is. In fact I doubt if you’d have to sign your work really, I’d recognise your work anywhere. By the quality, by that certain je ne sais quoi that marks your writing as that of a master craftsman. Naturally I utterly utterly adore this vignette of life at Cape Cod, truly written perfection. And congratulations on 11,000 posts, each one of which has been an utter gem. A glowing jewel of original thought, transposed with exquisite care and perfect poetic rhyme and meter. Marvellous writing as always. ’Deer hi there, I’ve loved the whole of this adventure, and you have encapsulated it perfectly in your perfectly drawn picture. The whole diary from trips to the shops, to evenings chatting together companionably in the flickering candlelight. What a beautiful trip it must have been, and thank you for sharing this whole experience with us. Mum’s absolutely right you don’t have to sign your work, your signature is the perfect meter and the exquisite rhyme. Mama mon cherie, il est formidabl n’est pas? and I know what her answer will be, Oui, mon petit chou, tout fomidabl Excellent work, I love this one Love and warm stuff As always Krissy And while thy willing soul transpiers |

Epilogue? Already? *S* I can't even imagine how hard it must have been for y'all to part... for having only your words, I sit here not wanting it to end. *S* This is wonderful, Michael... from Mysteria's magic to Kit's compassion (why doesn't it surprise ANY of us that a heart so kind couldn't pick out a living creature for dinner? *S*), you've brought the gathering right onto these blue pages for us all to enjoy... I thank you. *S* |
