The silence of a relationship Sends two seeking solace In the solitude of self understanding But in opposite directions Wilted roses fall prey to gravity As they crumble in prior lives Defeated by the nourishment to continue Sweetened water soured by time Yet a leaf is pressed into a Bible of hope And remembrance Taking the moisture of the tears with it To seal memories long gone of emotion In the quietness of one’s own immortality The lonely path grows cold and bitter Until The hand rises to lift up the soul In elevated surroundings Bringing in the sounds of a rebirth The bird sings as the garden is reborn Sending the bud of hope spiraling up In the next arrangement of possibilities A combination that may bring two together Or distance them forever For each must have the space to exist As individuals sharing the independence Never committing again to isolated slavery The sounds now start to bear fruit As harmony is restored In the music within singing a smile And within blessings you sigh In a dance so spirited You kick off your shoes And yell breaking the silence Of your prior imprisonment In the moisture you carry on So defiantly Email me if you want a critique on or off line at davelyoung1@hotmail.com D.Lester Young (06/09/02) Tuscaloosa, AL Copyright © D.Lester Young (White Eagle poetry) http://www.authorsden.com/visit/author.asp?AuthorID=5012 [This message has been edited by D.Lester Young (06-09-2002 07:43 PM).] |
