What Sort Of Form Is A Villanelle?
a villanelle I think

What sort of form is a villanelle?
Some twisted form of poetry
Like a convoluted paradelle

I think it’s something I can’t spell
A way of confusing me
What sort of form is a villanelle?

How do you write a villanelle?
You study poems especially
Like a convoluted paradelle

Do you understand this poetic hell?
Or are you wondering bemusedly?
What sort of form is a villanelle?

This is a poetry form strange and fell
Sets me reeling distractedly
Like a convoluted paradelle

What this thing is I can’t tell
A strange twist on poetry
What sort of form is a villanelle?
Like a convoluted paradelle

Terrific, Marsha, darling girl. You are amazing.

A villanelle

My darling you have penned a villanelle
'Tis wonderful in ev'ry way I read
A fine poet you are to write this well

A lovely verse, at first I could not tell
Such magic in your fingers as I feed
My darling you have penned a villanelle

And now I ask you, how you pen so swell
In words so beautiful my love you lead
A fine poet you are to write this well

I want to savor ev'ry word and others tell
And I am at your beck and call indeed
My darling you have penned a villanelle

A wonderful poem; and now I will tell
I'm in your heart a slave of words you feed
A fine poet you are to write this well.

So let me feast away and send my soul to hell
For drinking in this wonder brew, indeed
My darling you have penned a villanelle
A fine poet you are to write this well

(smiles) YAY!!! Ooohhhhhh...I know just how you feel, sweet friend, these kind of poems are indeed so very twisted and can be like a three-ring circus writing them! (giggles) This is a delightful wonderful villanelle, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Marsha, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

It's obviously a form that suits you well! Nice going, mushy! Two points for you....

Beautifully done, my dear friend Marsha...
I have never even tried the villanelle...but maybe someday I will...
Yours is beautiful.

Newell darling boy thank you truly but you know this is only the third I wrote, and not a form I particularly enjoy. Its too hard to do, unless you are particularly into form writing, or you happen to be a brilliant writer, so I miss on both counts. Thank you muchly for your villanelle

’Deer dearest heart, that is just too much like hard work, and I’m not into work at all if I can possibly avoid it. The only reason this was written was because I simply couldn’t let my darling daughter get away with it. Your writing however is ace and I hope to see some more soon. As for it suiting me, you mean something strange and twisted into a nightmarish form suits me? Oh my, I’m going to have to employ a spin-doctor I think. Maybe that way I can redeem my reputation, but maybe its too big a task even for them. I know you didn’t mean it like that I really do thank you love, merci beaucoup cheri

Lyra darling girl thank you so much darling girl, whether I’d have done this without the incentive of Krissy doing one is debatable, in fact I very much doubt it. Thank you darling, try it I would say for you it’s a cinch
