Victor...The Cartoon

My younger son, Victor
so sweetly ambitious
mischievious eyes
never malicious

he had some interesting career ideas
at age five, he wanted to be a cartoon
four years later he changed his mind
and decided to be a tycoon

in downtown Chicago
he would buy the Sears Tower
and be driven round town
in stretch limo with power

he always loved money
and what it could buy
but his sweet generosity
could not be denied

though he wanted to make a fortune
knowing money wouldn't bring bliss
helping the poor and the sick, instead
his goal was to be a philanthropist

Victor graduated from Michigan State
phi beta kappa...magna cum laude
decided to go into law
to make his family proud

he graduated two years ago
from Columbia University
and gave his grandma bragging rights
with his Doctor of Law degree

he was hired by one of the biggest law firms
in all of the U.S.A.
though he makes lots of money, he works too hard
seven days each week, eighteen hours each day

this career is getting him down
burnout is singing depressions tune
maybe he would've been happier
if he had become a cartoon

I'd say he realized his life's ambition, Madame C. Lawyers ARE cartoons!

All work and no play makes....

Yes, we know the answer to that one...and I
am sure your son does as well....

One day he will find the peace..He certainly
has earned the right...

Do love this poem....Yes,  a cartoon might
be nice, huh?

(big hugggssssss) Awwwwwww, this is so very sad, sweet friend, it too saddens me to see children becoming overscheduled now, I would hate to be in that occupation, for I want a job that makes enough money to support a family but I also want plenty of time to be with my future family and a job that makes me happy and reflects my talents! (kiss on cheek) My heart goes out to him and others who find unhappiness where they end up, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Lyura, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Thanks for your reply, Michael....
Did you ever notice the similarity between the word "lawyer" and the word "liar"?

Lawyers may be cartoons...at least some of them...but not the kind that Victor wanted to be...and I'm sure glad that he didn't realize his ambition of being Casper the Friendly Ghost.

Thanks Barry...I think I have convinced him at least to come back to Michigan from NYC.  He got just a little too close to being in the World Trade Ctr on 9/11.

Thanks Noah...Victor is all grown up now.
He's no longer a little boy...he's 27 yrs old and working for a very high pressure law firm in NYC.  They always overwork the new young lawyers....I know that its really depressing him because there are so many other things he wants to do besides work...
like being a cartoon...LOL

Shivers...how proud of the accomplishments you must be, but the mothers pride is easier to see...we realize how you'd love him so
if to be a cartoon was the way he did go!

(Remind him from the dreamers here to stop and love the life around him!)

Thanks for the sweet verse, Azblond...
You are right...I would love him no matter what career he chose...and actually, I think he would have been a great cartoon.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, Interloper...

I had fun writing it and I emailed it to Victor and he said he couldn't stop laughing because the facts are so true...

I had fun reading this! And I am sure he'll continue to do you proud.  Did anyone say that he looked like you, check out those smiles!

Thanks so much, mycafe...
When Victor was in grade school...as he was when that picture was taken...every time I would go to his school for something, people would say..."you must be Victor's mother"
So I know that he looked like me when he was little, but as he grew older and his face became more masculine....he started to look more like a combination of his Dad and me.
I have always seen a lot of his Dad in him...but he has always had my smile....and you are the first person here, who noticed that.
By the way....where are your poems posted?  I would like to read them.

Thanks so much, Martie...aren't our children special?
Victor was always so full of mischief when he was very young...but it was the kind of mischief that everyone thought was cute.
He really never was malicious or mean...and when he was in high school, he used to wear a tie to school every day and help elderly neighbors carry in their groceries.
He was also a Tom Cruise look-alike....
Now he is 27 and all grown up, but I still think of him as my little boy.
