How Does Your Garden Grow? How does your garden grow my friend Each day you sow the seeds Is it in bloom with flowers bright Or are you growing weeds Have you planted it with love Been blessed as it has grown And watched its tendrils reaching out Or is it hate you’ve sown Have you scattered peace and caring And from those tiny seeds Borne the joy of true compassion Or are you growing greed Have you cultivated hope Been prided with its bloom Or has your garden been choked out By jealousy and gloom Is your soil mulched with giving Does tenderness vine free Is faith in blossom, joy in bud Or is it wickedness you see Look upon your life dear friend The seeds sown row by row Then answer just this simple question... How does your garden grow? ~ Ruth www.angelfire.com/pa/OriginalMinds/index.html [This message has been edited by hoot_owl_rn (06-04-2002 09:35 AM).] |

It blooms a petal of rose and wisteria, to tickle my nose weeded of blight, it grows strong sunflowers dancing, all day long... |

I loved this! I did something parallel to this in my poem, Garden of Weedin'. I made a placque of mine and placed it in my garden. Your poem could be included as well. Joe Lamando |

I try everyday to fertilize the garden of my thoughts with as much goodness as I can muster from my seat of emotion....my heart.....Sometimes as an imperfect person I know I fall short of the mark but I really strive to get back to where the goodness within makes a difference......Reading beautiful poems like this is one of the best ways to relate to my peers and be encouraged by their reminders and gain strength from the fact that I can still put faith in my fellow humans....Thank you for this write! |

I water and nurture it everyday. Trying to keep the love inside of me alive. As for my real garden, my goats ate it. This is a beautiful poem. |

HootieGal~ My outside garden blooms with flowers galore Inside is the one where I keep friends in store~ One requires high maintenance Can you guess which one I'm talking about ? The outside garden can survive on it's own ... But the friendship garden ... I can't live without~ I'd rather have friendship's bouquet smiling on my face Than any other arrangement that would simply wilt in the vase~ Beautifully inspiring sweet lady~ *Hugs* ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ |

Perhaps those close to us can answer your question more honestly than we can... for so often, we're either too generous or harsh on ourselves. *S* But my mind is full of fertilizer... so perhaps I won't need Miracle Gro? LOL This is beautiful, hoot... a lovely reminder that we should tend what matters. *S* |

Hello Ruth I adore my garden and every garden and I try to keep the weeds at bay as best I can. There is no room for room for hate or such in my garden as I shower it with as much love as I can. Maybe that's why my garden blooms all year round and gives me neverending pleasure. Your words were so well written and so much enjoyed, thank you. Take care......Sue Suetang |

Ruth My garden is a mixture of all things good and some that are not. As a human being, I have to cultivate the good and try very hard to rid it of the weeds of life. There are times the weeds try to grow tall from lack of proper gardening, but I will say proudly that I try hard to help my life's garden grow and become the fruit of my life's hunger... Thank You for a very beautiful and well written poem which carries much meaning within... I do believe we all have to work hard to help our gardens grow properly...And I also believe that not one of us is perfect with two green thumbs, so to speak. |

Thank you all for the kind and sincere replies to this piece. Sometimes it is hard to be the perfect gardener, sometimes those seeds of doubt, fear, resentment stragle in amoung the good seeds and, like weeds, attempt to overtake the garden. Although I have not a green thumb and my outdoor garden grows lots of weeds and very few "good" plants, I'd like to think the garden I grow with my life is blooming well ![]() Love and hugs to you all ![]() |

Ruth-Seems sometimes by living life in the fast lane, I forget to nurture the garden, thank you for bringing these thoughts to the fore-front. Lovely poem. |

My garden blooms with love and peace. It feeds not only my soul, but the soul of my friends. There are very few weeds, but every garden must have a couple. It is filled with love and diversity and every color of the rainbow. Hugs, Marti " My wrinkles are badges of courage and reveal that I am a Mother." |
