If Not For You

This is for my dear husband, David.It was exactly two years ago this weekend, that we first met online and spoke to each other by phone

If not for you
the clouds would have torn
and swallowed my soul
the sky would have ruptured
and swallowed it whole

it is only because of you, my love
that I am here...at least for this instant
though quaking with fear
for this small piece of now
eyes filling with tears

your love is a warm blanket
enfolding the broken pieces of me
shielding me from the real of cold
my protector
your heart so big...so bold

and you are there for me
always
even in the darkest of frights
calming the tremble in the night

you talk me away
from my fears
with your towel of caring
you dry my tears

and I know in my depths
that you give me your all
and all that you give
you sacrifice
so that I may live

I loved the first verse in this
and especially the first four words.

If not for you....

Is it any wonder why I refer to you as "dear heart" Your words touch me deeply and in so many ways.

Lyra darling girl this is seriously excellent writing, the flow of this is perfect, and the sight of David’s eyes confirms that he is just as wonderful as are you. You have to know I really love this darling heart, YOU two deserve to be together, and you are so clearly happy and content. And isn’t it a wonderful feeling.
