Ups and Downs

Peaks and valleys
all around
climbing slowly to the top
and faster sliding down

in between those peaks
the valleys of quiet season
fly by fast and soon they're gone
and again we climb with reason

the uphill treks are difficult
but downhills filled with fear
teflon wheels are greased
our control is out of gear

no longer fun
we go faster and faster
the bottom comes quick
with certain disaster

just like real life!

Upon the tracks we calmly sit
waiting for the ride to start
a chug, a pull upwards the hill
not a spectator, but a part.

the experience is life
the thrill of living
amidst all fast decline
each dawn a miracle
that G*d is giving
I like my life 'just fine!'

Salutes from Indy-wise to the Magic Munkster!
Nicely pegged!  you are def on the 'right track'!
Please remember, tho,
to return the seats in an upright position
when the ride is through.

Thank you,
clicky clack huggs from Jeff

Lyra,

Your poems never fail to give fresh perspective on this crazy train we call life.  I always enjoy your work so much.  Can I be like you when I grow up?

Thanks so much, Joanna...
Life does have so many ups and downs.
The trick is, in taking advantage of each of the times in our lives.

when it moves
from left to right
i am all right
but it is when i am upside down
that i force a green frown

so the tracks go on
clickity clack
so pleasant the ride
we glide upon

a hand slips
in yours
a calming touch
for there is seldom
a person
who cares as much.

May you remain strong
and tough
to endure those veritical diversions.

MC   This is a delightful comparison to life and so true.....enjoyable read!
My daughter and I went on Space Mountain about twenty times one day.....We got addicted and couldn't break free from the thrill...It's dark in there too so that makes it even more fun.
I think that's the only enclosed roller coaster in the world isn't it??
Sorry I went off on a little personal trip!
Loved your poem!

(giggles in delight over Eric's comment) Yay, I love Space Mountain, ooooohhhh, and every time I've ever went on that ride, I was scared that my head was going to hit one of the steel beams! LOL! (kiss on cheek) This is wonderful, sweet friend, I've felt that much of my early life was only going downhill all the time, so I hope now that I will have a long ride upward to compensate for that! (kiss on cheek) This is wonderful, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Lyra, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Thanks again, Indy Jeff...

This is going to be a tough week, but smart chipmunks don't crumble because if they do, they just might be eaten by a larger creature.
It sure would be nice to have a horizontal week instead of an up and down one.  I've gotten a bit spoiled, as the last 4 weeks have been pretty steady and I haven't really had to face any really scary issues while recovering from radiation....The side effects of the radiation are horrible, but not life threatening.
Next week however, will be when "the rubber hits the road"
Thanks for your thoughts

Thanks Eric, I think I've been to Space Mountain a long time ago when my kids were little....and I remember being really scared when we turned completely upside down.

The kids of course, loved it....Nothing scared them except haunted houses and then it was their turn to scream!

Thanks so much, Sy...It certainly is.  I know it has for me, especially the past few years.  As soon as I get really happy, something horrible happens...
Thats what the poem is about.

Thanks so much, Barry....thats really what my life has been like, since 1997.  As soon as I am really happy, everything goes downhill and some kind of crises happens.

I'm almost afraid to be too happy anymore...
I think I prefer the middle ground of not being ecstatic but not being depressed either.

Thanks Noah...I really think Space Mountain is scary....actually, I think roller coasters are pretty scary too.
When I was in college, I had a boyfriend who loved them, and at that time the world's fair was in NY, and we went on every single roller coaster they had.....and it seemed like every single week, we went on the real big on in New Jersey...Palisades Park.

Thats life, isn't it?
I've been thinking about it and decided that the uphill ones, though more difficult...are where I would rather be, than the scary downhill slides...especially on greased teflon wheels...
