I Love the Rain

I love the rain
I love the way it drums it's torrents on the roof
and hurls itself recklessly against the window
dancing to the swirling symphony of the wind

I love clouds
I love the way they float lazily through the heavens
their lighthearted innocence quickly turning nasty
cloaking the world in an aura of shadowy doom

I love the wind
I love the way a gentle zephyr
can suddenly turn gusty
becoming a cold angry gale
shaking the trees and rattling windows
whirling it's wickedness into a tempest

I love lightning
I love the way the first innocent flash gathers strength
dancing gamely from cloud to cloud
forking and flitting it's winged whiteness
through the darkening skies

I love thunder
I love the way the first uncertain mumble
turns into a rolling undertone
becoming a low rambling rumble
finally reverberating through the skies
in fulminating, deafening blasts

I love storms
I love the sound of the wind and the rain
dancing together
to the resounding cannonade of thunder music
under a dismal sky of drear
lit only by the cadmium yellow streaks of lightning

BRAVO!!! Oh Lyra, this is wonderful, sweet friend, I just love storms too, I guess mostly because we've had a drought here lately and we need that rain so so much! (kiss on cheek) This is wonderful, sweet friend, I just love the wonderful way you write, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Lyra, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

It stormed here the other night and I've never seen clouds like that.  I live in a valley and the clouds were covering the mountains and it was just incredible the definition of the clouds.  I don't notice those kinds of things too often but when I do...they're impressive.

Thanks for your reply, Michael...and also for those great lightning bolts!
I think its so interesting the way so many poets love the rain and dark, dreary days when most other people hate that kind of weather.

I had put a photo with this poem and it turned out to be way too big, so I deleted it and found a much smaller one, but I couldn't get that one to post either for some reason...and then I just couldn't edit it out, and that little red X just sat there for about 20 minutes while I kept refreshing the screen until it finally disappeared and I got another photo.
Do you know how to make those big photos smaller? If you do, would you please email me and let me know.

Thanks so much, Nancy...as far as I'm concerned it can rain and storm forever as long as there are lakes and rivers enough to catch it all, but unfortunately, there aren't so we just have to put up with some sunny days...but truthfully, I really like the cloudy ones better.

Thanks so much, Mr.Squirrel...but please don't faint...
How would a little chipmunk pick up a great big squirrel and carry him off to a safe place, away from cats and hawks?

I'm glad you liked my fulminating cannonade of a poem.

Lori...thanks so much for your reply and also for your hugs and prayers....I need them badly right now.
I actually feel great and think my tumor is gone...but will have a scan in a couple of weeks and I'm very scared of what the results will show...

thanks also for recognizing my attention to detail...I am very fussy about details and David thinks its funny that I won't let anyone else dust our livingroom because they might move something ever so slightly and it will change the entire decorating scheme as far as I'm concerned....I guess that must make me fussy, right?

Both of us will keep working on the photo sizing, Lyra...for the time being, keep writing...for with or without photographic images, you leave a lot behind in your words alone...

Thanks so much for your reply, Karilea...
I really appreciate what you said about the words....and I feel the same about yours too...And I've been noticing your beautiful photographs lately...you are quite the photograher!

I discovered that I have a photo editor....the icon is on my desktop, but somehow  it became disconnected.  David says that  it will resize the photos, but I have to give up the computer long enough for him to get it working again...and thats the problem.  My computer has become my Siamese twin.  Since I've been recovering from the radiation and he's moved it into the bedroom, I have been online constantly except when I'm asleep...but it has really helped me to recover faster.
I think today, its going back into the study.
And maybe I'll even let him at it for a bit.

~hugs to a great photographer

ahh another lover of the so-called
day dreary I implore the fluid introspection
to pour performing cascades pon each light
and revel in the gray and more the thunder
lightning child I embrace soul filled
listening to rising skies which purge languid Earth with Heavens tears undefiled
proclaiming only majesty of being living
within life that swallows too often whole
the breath of life so parched rebirthed
in soul nourishment for the I within the eye

Well done

Dear Lira

I love the rain when I was young,
I was singing in the rain
But now  brr brr brr.
And the wind is blowing
I fall down.
but I love Your poem.

Thanks Ethome...I hadn't thought of them as invigorating, but after I read your reply, I re-read the poem and I think you are right...
they make me want to dance in the rain.
