His Etching

When love was new
between them, she should have
read of the insecurity
that already breached the gap

she dismissed the signs…

before his entrance
into her life,

once, fully clothed, she had
modeled for a would-be
photographer

the picture still graces a wall
in a closet…

the new he had never approved of
her white gauze top, that glass of
wine held by fingertips grazing
chances

nor her blue-jeaned limber limbs tucked in contented
form
or the smile that had lifted corners
of thought

(lucky photographer)

the new he asked what else had she
modeled
when she had willingly given her clay to him
to mold

and scoffed at her “nothing” response…

he brought home an etching
a nude lovely, her backside showing
nice
raised arm, holding up her black and
white blonde hair

she liked it, but wished the artist
had curled the straight of hair, it would
have lent
elegance,
she thought…

the new he asked
if she had posed for this

and heard her “no”

but didn’t see her grin
nor hear her wish
that, had it been,
she would have
asked the artist to curl her hair

it still graces the bedroom wall…

*smiling*
very very cool indeed.
peeling back the layers of this is like unfolding satin and lace ...or old love letters.

Memory...this one a nice place to be....and again the forums from before there was an Ed seem to give me more than what I saw today...and certainly more than I've seen in some other days recently.

Memory....I could live in it, as the old song says.
