This day is your Memorial day on wich you mourn your dead
We had our day the 4th of May, only a few weeks ahead
At the end of World War 2, they made up a very long list
Of men who fought together, so many there were missed
So many of your sons and fathers, came over to this land
They fought for our freedom, but never home they went
They've found a resting place in Holland's honest ground
And close to where I live, this small graveyard I've found
I think they are Canadian, but does that really matter
They're dead in name of freedom, it says on the info letter
They came here over seas, young men with lifes ahead
Scared as hell they must have been, and now they are all dead
No future for those lads, who had their hopes up high
And I, born in the fall of War, am only asking why
Why are there always people who take what's not their own
Who take the lifes of soldiers, some not yet fully grown
Who think they are superior to other people's mind
Will mankind ever learn? No trace of that I fear I'll find
And so I'll mourn all those who died, including yours, I do
I'm saluting all your soldiers, because it is my freedom too

A rose is a rose is a rose...I guess...

Titia,  thank you very much for this post.

Yes, and there are tens of thousands more
just like them,  buried on foreign soil
where they gave their lives for freedom
of all lands...not just their own..

Tita hi there this is such superb writing, so many young lives lost so many men who went and did not return. My memories aren’t of anyone I knew since I’m much too young, but I still bow my head and say At the rising and the going down of the sun we shall remember them.

You’ve written this exceptionally well, Thank you for the gift of beauty in this write of heart, you have surpassed yourself. I’m so looking forward to meeting you in September

Love and warm stuff
As always

This is a wonderful tribute to all those who have fought and died for the price of freedom.

Dear Titia.
What a wonderful world this would be if there were many more people like you
Thank you for being you.
