I loved you with all my heart and soul
I treated you as if you were made of gold
But in the end all I received
were the symptoms of your misery
I had dreams of true love
with visions of the future
Maybe I was nieve
Maybe you were realistic
But I was in love
and all you felt was infatuation
In the end I was the fool
to fall so deeply in love with you
Now I am the one left behind
with feelings that I can't deny
One day I will call you
and hope for the best
And hope for you to say
I love you with all my heart and soul
You treated me as if I was gold
I realize now
what a fool I have been
Take me back my love
I will never do it again

Hi Robert & Welcome fellow newbie!

I'm fearful I've been on both sides of what your poem is speaking of. And you have written it well. I really like: "but in the end all I received were symptoms of your misery". That reads deliciously. Keep writing, I can't wait to read more!

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Robert, this is so very sad, sweet friend, it breaks my heart to see so many grow so much in love with someone that the others expectations are not balanced with the others desires being suppressed unexpectedly! (sigh) This is sad but wonderful, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Robert, thank you for sharing!
