Beauty of Language

I watch as the world passes me by,
remembering the sunlight streaking through clouds
that shadowed my body, as I lay soaking up its warmth
on a summer-like day in May.

Poetic thoughts drifting in and out of mind
as I listened to the birds chirping their love calls,
smelled the lilacs in the gentle breeze.
And you, there was always you,
sneaking in from behind those thoughts
to touch me, where need lay idle.

Every sense  becomes heightened
with anticipation,  intuition
guiding me as your shadow looms,
growing larger with each learning
that journeys you further into my soul.

I sense in your smile, the sometimes captivation,
wishing it to be always.
Behind your shades I can see the reflection
of desire, to substitute sadness, misery and pain
with the simpleness of love.

I travel your being, lost on lips
that impose the fiercest impassioned plea upon me,
a wanting to never end.
And the more of you, the rest pulling me closer,
working me into a frenzy of feel and thought
until I absorb all, waiting for reason
to return me to norm.

Today those words, that define
my feelings, are inscribed upon my body
that when exposed, create a poem
published only for your eyes,
a non-verbal composition conveying for you
the beauty of language, body and written.

Beautiful setting and scene Maureen! Very sensuous theme entwined in these dreamlike thoughts...........a writing that describes your feelings as inscribed on your body in a non verbal poem you sure say a lot in this!  Very enjoyable writing!

The role of poetry is to utter the un-utterable; to open up
spaces of consciousness and resistance; to language oppressions; to
re-language historie
