Death snuck in on noiseless feet
And stole away his mortal soul,
No trumpet's blare of life's defeat,
No spotlight's glare of death's extol.

What mourner's weep to silent dirge?
What hymns of praise to gods on high?
No absolution, no sins to purge,
Just empty pews; absence of cry.

In wooden coffin; a pauper's grave,
Devoid of grandeur, in tomb he lies,
Darkness does his soul enslave,
What eulogy when an old man dies?

Last night alone, an old man died,
A library burned, and no one cried.

Oh no--gone with all his stories.  I'm going to visit my dad tomorrow.

Well I did...

marvelous again, Tim...how I wish I had listened to my fathers stories more. I just thinking today, how much time we waste on the trivial...and we think that's what's important. There are wondrous stories and sad, and delightful libraries of people out there. You captured the message beautifully.
(um, you aren't in the category of old man, but I bet you've got some stories to tell too!) Thank you for this one m'friend.

With this quality of work, I hesitate to post my poem about this subject. You are an amazing poet.

Tim

You see into the soul of life and bring it into words that touch.  That is a special gift.

Tim, this meets the challenge with absolute clarity!  I had hoped to write on it. Now, I am glad I did not, for perfection came along...

(big hugggsssssss) I have nothing much to say about this except that this is soooooo sadly beautiful and my heart goes out to those who lose someone dear and I only hope they can always hold true what they left behind in words and memories and cherish them always! (sigh) This is emotionally powerful, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Tim, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton
