I Still Remember

Leave for me one burning ember, from the fires of December
Sparks of life so long remembered, one sweet night that never ends
Into time my mind keeps tracing silhouettes of your embracing
Threads of love still interlacing cherished lovers, dearest friends

Keep within your heart a haven, softly cradled, fully laden
With a vision overlaid in flickering glows from hearth of stone
With each footstep o’er the trestle into life my heart had wrestled
In a wooden cabin nestled on a hillside, all alone

Silken skin shone unencumbered, in the glow of passion under
Waves of joy and sweetest slumber, under roof of heavy snows
Frigid winds in winter bluster, all strength that they could muster
Could not chill the simple luster of a love in ember’s glows

Undertow’s of life decisions, building walls of wide divisions
Never took away the visions still engraved within my mind
No remorse or tear-swept sorrow, in the space of my tomorrow
Though we both may sometimes borrow from the joy we left behind

Still I clearly can remember, yearning years we’ve been apart
Leave for me one glowing ember, burning ever in your heart

SweetLizzieLady~
This has such a quiet, soft and personal beauty~

'Leave for me one glowing ember, burning ever in your heart'

And ... blow that ember into a warming glow of remember often~

Just soooo lovely with the internal rhyme that makes it a beautiful read-aloud piece~
