Skin soft, sweltering
High breeze night, lovely
so lovely the song flow
of something warm and distant
as a radio
playing
on somebody’s front porch dream

These chimes try to wine me
but my mind lies outside
its realm

in a place so far away
from this beauty

to another horizon
perhaps the sun
hasn’t jumped off the edge yet

it’s just razor backed
and staring
melting
dripping
to the same beat
as this old song
that calls out my name

like that bad boy
Momma chased away

I just rock and sway
and let the vines creep
up inside of my mind

knowing I’ll never
come out smelling
like a rose
but the laurel blooming
down below
is just fine with me

all white and waxy
like swans caught
in nightlife stills

Life is calm for the moment
and sometimes the night
feels like a frequency
that I can tune into
and everything
I want to touch
is clear

(smiles) Awwwwwwww, this is yet another gorgeous piece of pure imagery from your poetic heart, sweet friend, I know just how you feel; I love spring and summer nights so so much, for the fireflies are always lighting the skies and the frogs are croaking and the moths are kissing all the lanterns and I feel I can do anything and all the beauty I feel is channeled through Mother Nature and all I have to do is select my frequency and lay back and sigh! (kiss on cheek) This is breathtaking, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Regina, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Regina, there are just too many exquisite lines that jumped out at me in this one!
One can feel the sweltering heavy night air here...gosh how I long for the hot summer nights yet to arrive in this part of the country.  You have captured the images and feelings very well with this piece, and I once again am in awe of your talent.

SO? all I had to do was ask?
that was easy
and this? this is as enchanting as the first one I read...the undercurrents of anticipation are written till we feel them.
Thank you for the view of you...for the company on the porch.
It occurs to me, I need a whole night to read your archived posts...I know I am missing poetic heaven.

Oooo!  I've felt exactly that before but I never would have been able to describe it!  Wow!  I am just so completely thrilled by that stanza!   The whole poem is beautiful actually.  You've got me in the mood for some porch lounging!

Often I feel so far removed from the southern nights and the sky that sweeps across the midwestern sky!  Someone asked me the other day, "is this what you call suburbia"  *cringe*   Anyway, I liked where you were siting and what you saw.

Subtly soothing and so very peaceful.
Beautifully written Regina~

The imagery is perfect...
you make me want to call in sick
just so I can go back to bed
and dream...

Dear Regina, in tune with the night, how wonderful your imagery, I could hear the chime from far away calling, but the beconning breeze and the call of night filled my eyes with wonders and sleep.

Much enjoyed.

Regina

You set such a delicious mood....soft, like wind chimes set to low...with an icecube slowly melting in your glass.  Lovely thoughts, so much enjoyed!

Noah: We love our summer nights..warm love and hugs!

Nancy: Your words mean so much to me. If my words do anything to bring you warmth and smiles then I am happy. I am grateful..Thanks poetess.

Janet: Wish you could come sit on this porch and chat about the weather..the bees, old birds that landed us..you just happened to get me when my muse woke up and I actually posted two in one day. That was a ripper for me since my Muse has been hiding out. Thank you for you!!

Marge: Thanks for popping in on me and my lil summer dreaming..appreciate you!

Tara: THanks sweet lady. Hugs and smiles..

Balladeer: Yes..you are there in that sweltering, slow music place that I love. Not as hot here..but drifts the same. Thanks for sharing the moment with me.

Krista: Hey! Well I couldn't be happier to evoke such lounging..I call it lizard lounging in day and porch blooming at night.
Thank you so much.

Blues: Oh wow..I guess I'd have to leave and visit some bed and breakfast with a porch LOL..or a building top at night might do. Just to breathe..you are always invited. Thank you sweet lady.

Dark: Sure! I have plenty of porch room darlin and know how to make some mean ice tea. Have a seat! Smile hugs!!

Sunshine: Ahhhh...kansas has some front porch views and some real warm breeze nights too. Thanks poetess.

Rick: All the way across the miles..I love it when I can touch that far!! So glad you enjoyed this and it brought you comfort.

Martie: I love to set moods to the laid back mode. About everything I write anymore comes from my Southern roots and needs to be read real slow. LOL..appreciate you dear lady.

Sincerely,
Reg

Regina....this reminds me of a 1960's
scenario on an old house porch in the
sweltering heat.....swaying in the swing,
listening to some old time music....sipping
a cool glass of tea....  Those summertime
days....

Very visual,  loved it!!!

Hello Regina

My words simply could not do justice to the beauty you portrayed in this stunning piece. I had visions of one of my favourite movies, "The Bridges Of Madison County" as  read this.

Take care.....Sue
