Lone Pine With so much time before me and eyes focused merely on the highway I became lost inside myself that the great distance provided me with Thoughts extended for what seemed a lifetime one by one My familiar journey looking for a little something to give this heart a lift... For, gray plainly leads my way to one heartache after another Still my eyes occasionally wandered to the pavement below Before I knew it to what appeared to read in neon light I read "Lone Pine" and with just one more mile to go... I've read that sign so many times when traveling this path But, never did it pull at my heart in the way it did today With patience not at my side I took that direction without hesitation And, no words could I find when I viewed this display... Like in slow motion I walked through it as I was soon encircled there Curious to why God wanted me to view this place Pines higher then hills I was consumed in a sense of awe Then, I realized God answered when I prayed for a moment of grace... Deep greens with a lighter shade that danced through the branches I was surrounded in immense solitude and peace And, to my knees I fell for not a soul there in sight I knew God heard when I prayed for a place for sweet release... I had just spent time wishing I didn't have to let her go And, now, I'm allowed life's circumstance to finally be revealed Here within these evergreens it held her Mama's cries And, inside the circled pines her Mama's sadness was sealed... It was clearly my chance to be closer to what my heart felt For, no one knew that inside I was dying slower then the seasons do How I wished she were there with me within these pines I then knew God heard when I prayed for a moment of escape to pass through... So, I stepped out of my kingdom of release and headed out Knowing those pines knew exactly what a mothers cries are about I realized God knew today I needed purity one more time And, looking over my shoulder I will never forget the arms of Lone Pine... You write with a passion I find to be just like my own, Lady. This is beautifully done. *Jenn* How grave is my condition, for I cannot find the words to say, I need you so. |
