April’s second week..... Please love April For poets speak Like love-worn hinges And wiry squeaks They come out from hither and yon Find a podium, then stand upon Words on heart-strung lines of whim And lethargy becomes blooded vim A second guest poet of youth stood tall His eagerness had embraced us all My heart said, “Please practice yet some more Before again speaking the words you’ve stored.” Between speaking times he flowed so smooth But when he read he staccatoed his groove And I wanted to shoot him, or me, For butchering so, his poetry… Though his book I bought, for reading skill All free verse, no rhyme instilled I liked his smile, his raw-strung style He’s got guts, he’ll go the mile. Please love April For poets speak Like love-worn hinges And wiry squeaks ~*~ [That concludes the second Tuesday of the month in tribute to Poetry and the Arts. Next week: Author/Poet Patricia Traxler. If you haven’t read Blood, her first book, I would recommend it as a Good Read.] |

As I read this one, Karilea...I thought that it was a different style than your usual... I am not familiar with Patricia Traxler's work...but I really enjoyed this poem... Thanks for sharing it with us. ~poetic hugs~ copyright2002 Lyra Nesius |

OOPS! I just re-read the line at the bottom of your poem.... Now I am confused... I guess you wrote this one, Karilea... It is a bit different than those of yours that I am used to reading... but just the same...I liked it very much. ~embarrassed hugs~ copyright2002 Lyra Nesius |

I'm smiling... No doubt he'll get better - Just standing there and reciting was a big step for him, eh? You can make a poem out of just about anything, Sunny One... |

My heart said, “Please practice yet some more Before again speaking the words you’ve stored.” Between speaking times he flowed so smooth But when he read he staccatoed his groove And I wanted to shoot him, or me, For butchering so, his poetry… I do love April... even if it is tax season. *S* But I'm ROFL at this poor poet and your discomfiture... even though I sympathize so much. *S* I can read others' works... but nerves tie my tongue on my own. *S* I enjoyed this, Sunshine. *S* |
