With a little help from sy:

Dear John (I mean Mike)

I very rarely give rebuttal (Ha)
But there’s a rumor I must scuttle
The curse of Isabel that set sail
From a knobby kneed golfers tale

He stands quite tall in poet’s hall
But I’m no poet not at all.
Rides a Mercedes old and perky
Hogs the road like a Christmas turkey.

Loves the taste of warmed up Spam
And eats it like some kind of jam.
He is generous to a fault
But smoking he can’t call a halt

He has idiosyncrasies
Like buying stocks that he believes
Will make him rich to retire
But blows out like a flat tire.

They say he has the gift of humor
But I would say that’s a rumor
Or why would his profession be
Just zapping bugs for you and me.

A photographic memory
That sometimes strikes like sorcery
To throw a web upon the girls
To twist them in his web of spoils

Now I’m not saying anything bad
But I sure wouldn’t want him as my dad
I like him and he is my friend
And hope these truths won’t bring an end.

AWWW, you didn't need a rebuttal. Niether of you can seem to squelch the charm of the other. I hope Isabel laughed along with us, as you must admit, Deer's poem left me in tears (laughter) and I'm very sure you got some chuckles just as he will when he reads this. You are very sweet and Isabel is a dear. I laughed through this one too.
Ahhh poetry can be lots of fun!

Isabel!  What a sense of humor you have!  Good to see it, via help of Sy...register under your own name, and I can imagine the fun we should have!

Isabel, if my little ditty got you to write a poem, it was a rousing success.

I must say I liked your rebuttal
But I can't say that you were subtle!
Attack me if you want but please
Don't tell gals I have knobby knees!

And you speak ill of my Mercedes?
Now I'll NEVER get the ladies!
My stock picks? There you are right on.
One day they're here...next day they're gone!

So go ahead and just abuse me.
As a friend you'll never lose me.
A character you'll always be
But you're a super gal to me!

Balladeer is much revered
But what is this that now I hear?
His poems never fail to please...
But warmed up Spam and knobby knees?
On a pedestal he sits
In this poetic hall
But it's kinda nice to know
He's human, after all! LOL

This is absolutely wonderful!!! What a great sport you are, Isabel... I loved this rebuttal. *S* Please join us often! *S*

With Spammy breath and knobbly knees
our Balladeer is bound to please
But all those rumours you did scuttle
in your cool and wise rebuttal
Now Deer is heading for the hills
to save himself some more pride spills
Isabel you scuttled him
But was that the wisest thing
He'll come back you know he will
With wit more sharp than dentist's drill.

Good comeback. I await the next one with bated
(or should that be baited) breath.

I've seen that bigroach, Balladeer
He's really quite a sight;
Last seen was headed out of here,
but took a left, not right...

I told him Lauderdale is SOUTH;
The airport though is west.
But no one dared open their mouth
They thought it would be best

For Balladeer could find the way
Said, "I don't need ya, Teach!"
I chuckled when I saw that they
Were right back at my beach!

LOL - This is great, Iz & Sy... I love it..

I have tried to email - I'll call over the weekend... Love to you both..
