I know a man Who has struggled, Bled his own self, So love one wouldn’t suffer, Ever since he could understand, Every instance he had to fight And take a stand, I cry inside when I see him endure, Knowing his pain Death is the only cure, Every morning he wakes up, Doesn’t question his life Nor the struggle, I see him coming home late Never pissed, always with A smiling face, He works hard enough Still the life he is living is quite rough, He still carries on his work, As if he is life’s only pawn, Through this misery and pain I ask him why does he stand His simple reply Will make all you understand Through the choices in life, Most of us avoid strife, I did what I had to do, Flying the coup That’s not what I thought, Keeping in real in life And see what happiness it brought. A good 'expose' of how we can misinterpret another's life. Sometimes we think someone's life is only pain, suffering, and adversity, when in fact, it is their chosen lot, and it gives them great pleasure to follow the less beaten path. I enjoyed the thoughtfulness in this one. |
