She’s gone
finally
the air is mine alone
though victory comes
too little
too late

I toast myself
demonstrating
the clink of one glass
against silence
bears no comfort
makes no stand

the salute
mute

for you, too
are gone

Aw I hope it's not really this sad in your heart right now.
I like this imagery, though it weeps.

You turned from me
My heart burst into small bits
A sound no one heard.

dancing with you in the summer rain~

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Duncan, this is soooooo beautifully sad, sweet friend, I hope this is not a current emotion you are feeling and now you salute love with cheers to your sweetheart! (sigh) This is wonderful, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Duncan, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

I didnt think it was possible...but you just made the phrase "drinking alone"... even lonelier.

Very impressive writing Duncan.  Sometimes the sounds of silence are needed to sooth a soul.  Well done.  Hugs.

Duncan...the feeling of silence and loneliness
flow from this in a torrent....

Sad,  yet so beautifully said...
