Before the flood In a few hours hence The beast will be loosed The one that determines Where next, I abide The bird-like chittering Of the woodstove As it heats and cools Taps an impatient counterpoint To the regular checking Of the clock on the mantle (The Beasts’ Sepia fingers curl Grasping Ochred edges, Gain purchase and begin) This is the music That accompanies my musings As I try to determine Which parts Of this already spare life That I’m willing to give To the river outside (Inching his fluid bulk Over long-confining earthworks To eagerly explore And claim new land) And so, lose myself In the tangible fog That hangs above The billowed snow Like cotton wrapped dark Dripping timecicles Letting an unexpected peace Infuse my spirit Within the acceptance That he is What he is And cannot be denied (With a ravenous sweep He attempts to satisfy His desire for Terran Sacrifice) ______________________________ Gads! Too much snow, melted by too much rain, Makes Ed head for the hills! The river should crest(Again)sometime Monday. Sheesh! |

Sheesh is right! You do have a rowboat or at least a life vest dontcha? I'd toss you a spare lifeline, but I've misplaced mine during one of my recent moves. Dang Ed, hang on! |

Ed, So sorry about you circumstances but they certainly inspired a wonderful poem. This I like much: "And so lose myself In the tangible fog That hangs above The billowed snow" and THIS: "Like cotton wrapped dark Dripping timecircles." Please take care...God bless, Hugs, Pat ..without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.. |

Yes, the "Hills are alive with music," run to them and dry ground...well, damp ground. I love your "pictures" and your word fusings. Such a grasp you have on coinage of phrases. You truly evoke your feelings well, wranx! Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |

One does not master the river nor do they build on its banks with impunity... it lives in a desire to change itself as well as its course. Higher ground... kind of like this poem. |

Ah, a cool drink of wranx in the evening is better than a shot of Irish whiskey.... Two shots, now, we might do a deal.... ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> |

'As I try to determine Which parts Of this already spare life That I’m willing to give To the river outside' Having lived on the banks of the Ohio...remember it well. |
