I once lost you in a shopping centre
and I knew I would die
if any harm came to you
due to my stupidity.
And don't brush away your awkwardness
by suggesting that
I was afraid of mum's wrath

or how about the time
when you were down with dengue fever
and I cried shamelessly,
my quest to act manly macho forgotten?
you were the calm one
reassuring me that you would be fine
it was incredibly cool and grown-up behaviour,
granted that you probably didn't realise how fatal dengue fever could be

you have come into your own since then
and we no longer communicate these days

we are seen in this photo,
my arm around yours
as we blissfully took in
the surfers conquering the horizons,
which must have been difficult
since the sky and sea seemed to merge to one

on hindsight,
it could be the case
where we both intuitively knew
and just wanted to spend
some quality time together
watching our relationship losing momentum,
drifting off into wide nothingness

I don't care how I think or how you think
It was a glorious day. Period.

i loved this. i can really identify because I also had a little brother - and he also almost died. kawasaki's disease - some rare heart condition that effects < 10K  children world wide, and he got it! Yeesh!

anyway your link formatt is wrong. it should look exactly like this, save for the extra brackets in bold:

Kaile,

Still haven't looked to see what the challenge was, but it is quite obvious with this very precious poem. It speaks!

thanks for all these reads...this musing reads very raw and is badly in need of some editing but the emotions just poured out onto the screen after i read the challenge (and fought against time to write since i had a class to attend)....so for the time being, i am going to leave this as it is...

thank you again..it means something to me...as this is real personal stuff...

Pat, Rosepetals has posted three great pictures in the Challenges forum and the challenge is to let your mind and muse go and write something from these pictures....a cool source for inspiration and i'm going to read other people's responses now.....

Majnu, i tried to insert the inverted commas but the link didn't work...but thanks for your help anyway...a pity though that i am a computer idiot..

Kaile I love this. Siblings have such an affect on us.. I'm really gonna have to call mine

As for the link.. just erase the spaces.. there is a space after the < and before the > just delete them and the picture should show up just fine

Kaile, a delightful read.  Period!  I had to laugh at that...sometimes we siblings just need to have the last word.

I'm keeping this one, of course!
What a wonderful way to say I care, no matter what.
