When buying things upon the net You aren’t quite sure just what you’ll get Quality’s out there to be found But shysters and their frauds abound. The same is true with folks you meet On cyberhighways or your own street Some are friends you’ll always treasure Others are evil beyond measure. As I have surfed these past few years I’ve known a few that caused me tears But outnumbering them by far Are ones that greatly surpass par. You cannot know how much it means To have a friend like jellybeans Trials and troubles cause her strife But she brings colors to my life. Sometimes it’s easier to dwell And wallow in our private hell But she’s there throwing a rope With hugs and love she holds out hope. Kethry once tried to give advice Only to learn I’m far from nice And stubborn as the day is long... How first impressions can be wrong! Her kindness just amazes me And I’ve watched her poetry Reach levels I cannot attend - I am so proud to call her friend. Though far across the ocean wide Somehow Marsha is by my side Encouraging with her belief And incapable of deceit. She writes her words in brightest pink But somehow, I do not think A steadier friend could ever be I do adore her - utterly. And once I thought I’d disappear Only to find Marge standing near Across the miles, she took my hand, Held on till I found firmer sand. She has a gift I can’t explain When my heart cried, she heard its pain. And I’m so glad she can’t refuse Even one of her crew of muse. Sweet Pepper says she’s not a poet But she’s all heart and we all know it I miss her words each time I post But it’s her health I miss the most. There’s so much fight in her small frame But she’s a charmer, just the same... Eyes that sparkle in a smiling face I cherish her unequaled grace. Though not around much anymore There’s Long John Ag and his sweet Lor They’ve found their happily ever after And filled their days with love and laughter. I miss the humor of ole peg leg If it would help, be sure I’d beg For him to join us with his mirth - Of sailor slurs, there’s been a dearth! But his good ole pal Balladeer Still blesses us with being here I love him though he’s known to nag And malign sweet saintly Toerag! He has a basket of golf balls But their number quickly palls When compared to his gifts of pen - He’s one of the finest that’s ever been. Around Seymour, I know that you’ll find That age is just a state of mind I could sit and listen to him all night For he is simply a delight. How treasured are his gifts of word From the infinite to the absurd His topics share his wisdom well - His life he shares with Isabel. And yes, I saved the best for last - My every dream for five years past Has been that he find happiness In this whole world, Toe is the best. I’ve never known a finer man I’ve watched a lot - don’t think I can Think of things to change if given the chance - (But that he’d think of me with romance!) His goodness goes to his very core Whatever I say, there are many more Attributes to admire; he's almost perfect - Day in and day out, he’s a friend to respect. There are many others that I could mention If I dared ask for more of your attention But these are the ones I thank God for each night They nurture, they inspire... they delight. Suthern beloved one, because I love you I came here to find your poem, and because I love you utterly I read it, and you know that smile that is so elusive at times well you planted one right here within my soul. Thank you beloved one for loving me, and holding my hand when the darkness speaks my name. This is simply perfect as you are, no one could ask for a better soul to rest at ease with. There was a time, and although it seems a lifetime ago, we didn’t know each other very well, I thank the Lord that HE sent you here to me. Your touch is the kiss of the morning dew, it refreshes a soul even as it reaffirms that life continues to flow no matter what. Thank you darling heart for all you are.
