Good morning Vicky! It's very sad, when people go on such a feeding frenzy and destroy irreplaceable things. But I think I understand this POV, for I've seen the destruction people do to their own families and neighborhoods when they've abused/been abused for most if not all of their lives. It shouldn't surprise us too much, the signs have been there. Remember the Buddha heads that were blasted? And in 1991 there was looting and damage to other antiquities. Perhaps we should have anticipated this and had troops deployed around the museums instead of defunct palaces? [This message has been edited by Midnitesun (04-13-2003 09:19 AM).] |
