  the taps

It’s like finding the haystack’s needle
when looking for water on the ocean
and they forecast a green light and the traffic all flows
down the footsteps of humanity which is running off my toes
and I feel a little woozy
            like a dime store floozy
whose lighting off her candles so she can get some sleep
under a blanket of thunder
    to worn out to wonder
just what is the side effect from breathing deep

when she looks down to find a metaphor
she only find’s life
such a blunt little lifestyle... for such a sharp little knife

            Like a sad little hangman
waiting for his word
I am looking for more straight people to absurd
it’s like looking for an apology
and only getting stories
that are only about... the tough times
and I’m running short on empathy
so forgive me if I’m angry
cause my passion and my faith always seemed to rhyme

when she looks down to find a metaphor
she only find’s life
such a blunt little lifestyle... for such a sharp little knife

I am the traveling salesmen whose knocking at your door
trying to sell off my shares of the man
cause the games are going badly
call Milton Bradley
and advise that this was not part of the plan
so for that haystack with no meaning
it’s an attempt at deceiving
what they don’t think you ever saw
and I’m punching like a piston
my chicken don’t need no crisp'in
I like my truth served to me raw

and when she looks down to find a metaphor
she only find’s life
such a blunt little lifestyle... for such a sharp little knife

Well, Airscale, this is one of the most interesting first posts I've ever read. Welcome! Such a creative, unique piece will find a spot in my library. I look forward to more trumpeting.

Very nice...Very.
Read aloud and LOUD, this would be "slam poetry". Or good coffeehouse fare.

Welcome

Thank you all so much... and I love the on-line postcard. It's funny you all talk about the music aspect of it, because it's set to a hard beat of drum taps...

Thank you again for your replies... I'm so overjoyed, there is so much poetry on this board... I LOVE IT.
