The Morning After
~~~
Sunlight
softly flowing
into a woodland dawn
Where honeysuckles lift their heads
from a sleepy
morning
fawn
Though all of nature
seems at rest
neath the fragrance of a flower
A distant cadence
breaks the still
beneath
this rustic bower
~
A gentle thump
and then
another
A shimmer
parts the years
Into the glade
a silhouette
with long thin drooping ears
The whiskers
graced
upon his face
show an ancient shade of grey
A basket
tucked
beneath his arm
he stops
to bless the day
Then
with a yawn
he disappears
amid a dazzling sight
A multi colored kaleidoscope
that fades
neath Easter's light
~~~

This makes me smile. The imagery of nature so well written, as is the message.

Enjoyed this greatly, Hugs, Pat

I agree, quite unexpected based on the title. Perhaps that added even more to the sweetness of this writing. I loved the beautiful images as your verse unfolded in my mind's eye.  Thank you.

That was SO beautiful!  I wish you had put this in sooner Rex it would have been such a lovely piece for the book.  I sure miss reading your work, and was sure glad to see our name here today.

Thanks everyone ... I haven't written much this past year or so, but I may soon get back to it before the spark dies
