You were there, I saw you there; Hiding somewhere in the shadows of my shattered soul; Secretly looking on as my life disintegrated. Life goes on, and I have picked up the pieces, but every now and then, I remember seeing you there. You were there, I felt you there; Smugly gloating at my pain, while I was shrouded in the darkness of an emotional holocaust. The scars have healed; The pain is gone, but even in my sleep, I dream of feeling you there. You were there, I heard you there; Quietly laughing while I wept. Jeering, mocking as I lay adrift on a sea of my own tears. The crying stopped long ago and I can live again. But sometimes in my busy day, I suddenly hear you there. You were there, yes you were there; Revelling in my devastation; Cheering on the demons that ravaged my broken dreams. And even so I triumphed! I saw you, felt you, heard you there, and still I triumphed, though you were there. Garfield |

A very powerful poem. Very dark in its mood. Jesus lives in my heart! |

I really did love this so much...it strikes a pain in my heart, deep and aching. I know how this feels and you've captured it well. Great write, and I agree with Seymour and Musicmaker1969 ..Very powerful and strong I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly dreaming I am a man. --Chang Tzu [This message has been edited by KoKo (04-11-2003 03:13 PM).] |
