Pewter cloud rising
Hundreds of feet
Blending unending
Stampede of defeat
Grey on gray matter
This pale of pact
Crushed bones,
wafting the air
From crimson splats

~Of broken souls~

Nose to backside
Shoving over the edge
Of truth and honor
His glory, they hedge.

I'd not want to be
Executor driven by pride
Hand leading spineless
They over the side.

An answer owed
Pure mutilated death
To the owner of souls
And of what's left.

So, pardon me
I decline your herd
Robots obeying
Honoring your word.

Brainless machines
Marching to your beat
Strength in numbers
On a deadman's street.

Rather be bullet ridden
And sieved full of holes
Then run over that cliff
With a ring in my nose.

Comtempt belies
Your pretty face
Lovely lies
Man-created grace.

I feel, not fear
Your scorn and hate
For group mentality
It is too late.

I live to honor
His power alone
Often, singly,
I speak out

My mind, my truth
And my piece
For, in Him
I have no doubt.

Heard over the din
Of shriek and shrill
Gruesome end
Of your ego's kill.

Angels applauding
Not, souls wronged
Who joined your pack
So they'd belong.

But, clapping for me
I, who stood firm
Sang my own song
Felt pain and hurt

Until I thought I'd burst!

And you?

Would do best
To drown
Yourself
First!

Your words stand tall and firm and I admire your conviction.

This is pure poetry for the soul that leaves many good thoughts to ponder.

You did good Pat~

Lori,

Thanks for reading and your replies.

I usually write "I"....but my poetry is not always about myself...this is more a personal observation about life in general.... though true, I stand alone, more often than not, I have to remember and double check my own motives from time to time, making sure my own ego has not overridden common sense...making sure arrogance of thinking I know best for everyone else, is in check... In reality I can only take care of me, and speak out when need be...

Hugs you, I appreciate you, Pat

This is awesome.  We can exhault Him in our own way, in our time. That is what he wants- a personal relationship with you. I have known many people (my parents included) who attend to say they attend.  This is not the way, but you know that.  I love this work.

May God Bless You, My Friend,
Pat

Yes, Pat, I do know that, only too well. Your perception is enjoyable; that we agree, great. In knowing understanding, thank you.

God's blessings to you as well,

Pat, I felt something very strong in this write. I read it over more than once, too. But, because I don't know the entire meaning or reasons, I won't say anymore here.

I am very impressed at the way that you stand up for what you believe, friend. Thank you for sharing your heart and your poetry.

Hugs,
Ethel

Ethel,

That works. Just means that often people follow someone's thinking and that entire group would follow their leader right over a cliff, without question.

Not using one's own mind, there is a great need for some to belong and take up with what ever seems popular, just as long they are included and don't have to make decisions or come up against what is right and moral or runs against the grain.

Whether it be a church or a clique of any kind.

Thank for your comments. If I didn't always speak up, no matter how unpopular it is, I wouldn't have much self respect.

Hugs, Pat

PatMYFRIEND~
You know, I came back to this today and found even more wisdom in your thoughts.

How perceptive you are and admirably I would tell you that it is of God-given purpose when we know we are right and stand up for ourselves~

It may cause others to delve within the demons of their own making ... but, no matter the outcome of their fruitless follies, YOU are a gifted writer and will contribute much to this world, while 'they' (don't ya' love that all-encompassing word?) falter in their 'cover-up' tracks !

'So, pardon me
I decline your herd

Honoring your word.

Brainless machines
Marching to your beat
Strength in numbers
On a deadman's street.

Rather be bullet ridden
And sieved full of holes
Then run over that cliff
With a ring in my nose.'

You are sooooooooooooo right on !
I could just *hug* you !
Okay ... I just did~

Have a GREAT day and a better tomorrow~
God has blessed you greatly, lady~
