Staring Through The Sun By: Noah Eaton 4/7/03 Baby-blue-eyes How your sun shined Through the corner of your mind From your cradle your laughter gleamed Condescendingly Like a campfire girl or cygnet All the time felt like the Feast of Lights You picked your mother pansies Had puppet shows and hootenannies Dancing with your grandpa Taught you how to two-step In your premature prom-dress Tugged his arm to start all over again Now every time I see your face It feels like staring through the sun But August forgets the embers June can’t remember their floodlights Now every time I see you I always feel the sunburn on the back of my neck In this fools paradise summer The heat index can spark a train wreck You were a bacchanalian prophet behind a lemonade stand You wore stoic eyes behind your sedilia While flying kites build castles in the sand I remember you pulling the lamp cover over your head And danced to songs by Hootie & The Blowfish If I had one wish I’d wish We could again live times like this Now every time I see your face It feels like staring through the sun But August forgets the embers June can’t remember their floodlights Now every time I see you I always feel the sunburn on the back of my neck In this fools paradise summer The heat index can spark a train wreck Now you feel like some wife of Richard Roe Sometimes wishing you were sedated Chaining yourself like some slave dealers protégée Pre-empted in mines of bloody diamonds Your blessings feel like bachelor’s buttons Late in their perennial bloom You hide the scars behind a babushka You wear through every napalm afternoon… Now every time I see your face It feels like staring through the sun But August forgets the embers June can’t remember their floodlights Now every time I see you I always feel the sunburn on the back of my neck In this fools paradise summer The heat index can spark a train wreck I can't see nothing through this sunglare In this fools paradise summer I can't see nothing through this sunglare In this fools paradise summer I can't see nothing through this sunglare In this fools paradise summer I can't see nothing through this sunglare In this fools paradise summer... "Your blessings feel like bachelor’s buttons Late in their perennial bloom You hide the scars behind a babushka You wear through every napalm afternoon…" Sometimes your lines have a way of blowing me away |

Hello Noah I really loved this and I'm a big fan of Hootie & The Blowfish. Here is a little something for you my friend. "Walk on a rainbow trail, walk on a trail of song, and all about you will be beauty. There is a way out of every dark mist, over the rainbow trail." Take care........Sue I am in motion |

Really impressive! You stir such a longing for summers as those shown in the Van Gogh paintings ... peaceful, with a fragrance of fullness and intimate joy of being ... Hugs. Margherita |

This was awesome. lol I can't find anything else to say about it. If You Wanna See A Rainbow, You've Gotta Live Through The Rain. And If You Wanna See Through Love, You've Gotta Live Through The Pain. |

Noah, my friend, your poems are so excellent that I sometimes know nothing to say. I will say though, that I love them all. By the way, sometimes people think they have the scars hid, but someone as loving and compassionate as you can see them.....my Gary can, too. Heart Hugs, Ethel |
