I'm headin' out tomorrow and I'll not be lookin' back, I hear that whistle blowin', from down the railroad track, No matter what life throws my way, no matter my travails, There's only one direction, a walkin' down those rails, Cold hard steel on cindered bed, stretch to the end of ever, When you're headin' down those tracks, there ain't no place called never, Where I'm at won't be no more, come the crack of dawn, 'Cause I'm headin' down those rails, and from here I'll be gone, I don't know where I'm goin', I know that I don't care, For as to destinations, I never will be there, I'm headin' out tomorrow, and I'll not be lookin' back, Do you hear that whistle blowin' from down the railroad track? This is very powerful Tim! It is in the same time fascinating and frightening. Too many times I have known of people WALKING those railroad tracks ...gone forever. So I do hope you mean you will TAKE THE TRAIN to go some part. Which is the right thing to do ... Hugs. Margherita |

We never can tell where the future will lead us...all we can do is move along and live life the best we can...A wonderful poem that captures much of what life is about in it...Well done. |

Tim, I really like this poem. It seemed as though I could hear Johnny Cash singing your words. Hugs, Ethel |

Been reading, listening to, Woodie? This sure kicked up a lot of dust, and I think I tripped once on the gravel, but I felt the touch of your hand to my arm, making sure I didn't trip on the tracks... A good read, Tim...very good. |

Woodie Woodpecker wrote poetry? sheesh, better check that out... hehe sorry, in one of his Tim, would you please act your age moods... I grew up beside the tracks in a railroad town, so I do have a partiality to trains. In any event, I appreciate the read and comments from all, and unfortunately Sunshine, Arlo is more of my generation, but still relate a bit to his father. |
