It comes, a time that we fail to secure our thoughts as humanity can never grasp the notion that we live and die. It comes the fruitless words imparted upon nations that would keep their minds on nothing more than trivial moods. To which they send thier armies, to whom have not quarel than that imparted upon them by the nations who refuse quarter. To which the sand burns my memories of a decade ago and the thought we had the truth and the willingness to finish. It came, the willingness to quit and walk away once more so another generation may have to die in my place. The sand still stings my eyes as though I were still seeing the vastness of a powderd hill blowing gently in the wind. And how it crept into my heart the feelings that I wish I were there once again, beside comrades whom wonder why we quit before. It comes, the feeling of failure that I want to override and return to the desert, for there is my soul at this moment. It comes, the feelings that civilians may truely never understand, about why and how we go, to the ends of humanity for one another. Truely one day you may know that we do not make the decisions, but will go for our brothers in arms, and those whom have fallen. |

Michael, this sounds a lot like my Dad talks. He's a WWII Veteran and is very patriotic. Thank you for sharing your heart with us. I hope this is in the book. Hugs, Ethel |
