Antonym
By: Noah Eaton

Guess I believe I feel alright
I am convinced I can still see the sunlight
Deep through this apathy
I still recognize the night
I know it’s hell out there
For every honest man it’s a hard time…

Seems just like another Eleusinian mystery
But the robin is nowhere to be seen
Even the dolphins are on itineration
On an eyre through an ensanguined sea…
It’s not this sty
That is inflaming my eyes I conceive…

It feels like an asylum to me
So many faces standing still
Never being listened upon…

It’s easy for you to say,
“What’s the use of speaking anyway?”
Even in this grand compurgation
No one is making a resolution today
Electrovalence
Seems the only way to move this train…

It feels like an asylum to me
So many faces standing still
Never being listened upon…

Break your profound speech from dactylic hexameter
To iambic pentameter
If you wish to speak
Make it quick, I have a lot of homework
Using nothing but Cliff notes
Claiming you have the original draft of the truth…

Intimations of immortality
Misunderstood
Imitations of democracy
No use re-writing them if you could
Antonyms
Spoken from the bugles of tanks
Speaking, “We’ve come to set you free!”
When everyone is crying?
When everyone is bleeding
When everyone is protesting
And everyone is analyzing
When you can’t tell who is honest
And you can’t tell who is lying
Where is the indelible line
Of what’s theirs and what is yours and mine?

It’s not this sty
That is inflaming my eyes I conceive…

"Underneath your clothes there's an endless story..."

Listening to every heart

Sometimes, Noah, I wish I could be your age again, to live in a world that is so far advanced from the world I grew up in - but have had to keep up WITH...

I envy you.  You are me, four decades later.  But you are better than I ever was at your age - I see you do so much - for your community, your school, and this website.

I envy you.

And my hope is, that the things that are going on now, to give you reason to write as you do, gives you the reason to have a place to continue writing for decades to come.

Hugs...

Karilea - If I whisper, will you listen?...

Dear Noah, your heart speaks and you weave wisdom through it. So many unsolved questions give pain.
May humankind awaken to Love, so that dolphins and robins can be again fully enjoyed by all inhabitants of the world.
Love, Margherita

yanno Noah? you are one intriguing poet--that first stanza started out in a kind of bluesy man-to-man type of tone and then ya turned it all around on me to end in classical voice--

you left me smiling, as ya always do!

<---proof

very clever, considering yer title and subject--

My friend, I must say that your poetry has come so far within these past few years, and you just keep getting better and better at it all the time, i love this piece very much, you use such great words to express your thoughts and emotions.
