Hello everyone! This poet is one happy camper! I've flown across Canada, and am visiting with Mysteria, in British Columbia. She is an exceptional hostess, a wonderful friend, and I am one lucky and very contented poet! Beautiful friendship, beautiful scenery ... what more could someone ask for? ~*~ On Vancouver Time I finished up my chores and work, though how, I’ll never know, I worked right up until the moment it was time to go; On Friday, I said “That’s enough!” my flight leaves here at five! It’s noon, and Sharon’s waiting for me … time to come alive! I got my packing under way, an easy task for me, No dressy clothes, no lad-de-dahs, just jeans and sweats and T’s! I threw it all together, grabbed my luggage, caught a plane, This isn’t real, I kept repeating, time and time again. I chased the sun from east to west, and almost caught it too, I lost three total hours, from my watch when all was through; I read and slept, and slept and read for seven hours in all, Then landed in Vancouver (my time midnight, I recall). The local time was nine o’clock, a perfect, restful flight, I’d gained a whole three hours, what a way to start the night! I exited the plane and followed signs to “Baggage Claim”, I watched for Sharon’s smiling face, then heard her call my name! I saw her from a distance … what a smile that greeted me, I swear she glowed from head to toe, a welcome sight to see! Slow motion, just like all the movies, arms were open wide, We closed the distance up between the two of us, and sighed. We hugged and laughed and talked and grinned, two giggly girls at play, Then Jim, her friend, said, “Ladies … follow me, and led the way.” He drove us through the city, up the hills and past the pier, And all the while, my mind kept thinking … “Is this real? I’m here?” Just then, dear Sharon, leaned to me and pinched me on the arm, I laughed (I knew what that had meant, no cause for an alarm); She said that Nan had told her that a pinch is what I’d need, To let me know that this was real, and not a dream indeed! It worked, I’m here it’s really true, we talked into the night, Ate chocolate cake and ice cream much to both of our delight! My watch said four o’clock a.m. when it was time for bed, Though only one o’clock on BC time, my jet lag said. I slept in, Oh … I slept in good (well, eight o’clock, I think) That’s good for me! I’m right on track, and soon we’ll be in sync! We laughed and talked through yesterday, through sun and rain and haze, Then walked through Antique Alley, stepping back to retro days. But that’s another story, I’ve got poems piling up … Ideas I had long forgotten … new ones stacking up! It feels so good to write again, so Sharon, thank you friend, This landscape and your company will help this poet mend. /Kit McCallum |

Finest feather bed and sweetly scented bathroom, warmest candles all aglow amidst poetic friendship. I do know these sweet memories, these moments surrounded by the rose of Sharon. |

Awwwww ... thank you guys. Oh, it's so beautiful here. I'm sitting at Sharon's computer, with windows on either side, a bird feeder to my left with them chirping and singing beside me, the sun is just starting to come out, and I've got the biggest grin on my face right now. I've left the office work at the office, and I'm "really here". (pinching myself again, just to be sure!). Much appreciation and great big group hugs to all, /Kit (a very happy and relaxed Kit) |

If Mysteria is a cure for writer's block then I'm sure she can book a room at her place for a lot of us!! Sounds like you're having a wonderful crazy restful time! |

AAAWWW, this is so sweet, Kit. I'm glad that you are getting a much needed rest (from what I could gather from your replies to others). I'm also glad that your ideas, poems and stories are stacking up. I love your poetry and your stories, too. By the way, Does that mean that you and Balladeer are going to give us some more stories, too? LOL Just have fun and tell Sharon I said hello. Heart hugs to you both Ethel |

(smiles) Yay!!! Oh Kit, this is wonderful, you and Sharon are two poets I admire ever so much here and I am so happy you're meeting together as I really want to meet a poet from Passions sometime so badly like you or her or anyone as Passions friends mean ever so much to me! (kiss on cheek) You know, Bill Charles also lives in British Columbia, maybe you might come across him too, yay! This is delightful, sweet friend, I can't wait to see pictures of you two at some of the sites and sounds and wonderful poetry, yay! (does happy dance) God Bless You Both, we all love you both so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Kit, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! I found your work in archives but had not seen it "live". This is a delightful depiction of something we just can't wait to happen...spent in awe and wonder when it does. It is a pleasure to read you. KJ Through rubble and trouble and dark of night |

So you two are together once again..it's just not fair! How can I feel the joy when I'm down here and you're up there??? There was a time when it was all for one and one for all When we three got together with some folk I can't recall. How can you reunite without your buddy Balladeer? If you get in a swordfight you'll be short one musketeer!! If you decide to skip rope, who is there to hold the ends? How can you be so happy while you turn your back on friends? I told my buddy Sy that you were meeting without us. It was the first time in my life I've ever heard him cuss. He said, "Did they invite us?" I said no, as teardrops fell And he is sure we couldn't come because of Isabel. Don't you remember at the airport under stormy skies How you could see the pain of separation in my eyes? And now you're back together minus me - it's hard to take. It's tough to face the mornings when one's heart begins to break. So, go on, have your fun. May every day be glorious. So Sy and I are miserable....don't worry about us. We've both been hurt before by those who once had called us friends. The wonder of a broken heart is, over time, it mends... p.s. I'm studying Guilt Trips 101 under Isabel. How am I doing? HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME!!! |

Kit - the only thing one could ask for just a little more is to come up to the "Monashee Lodge" in Revelstoke, BC, for a visit and see the real mountains and fresher air. Don't tell Mysteria I said that please. Glad you're enjoying the sights, it is beautiful in this part of Canada... BC |

ROFL @ Michael ... hugs to you and Sy! Thanks for the great comments everyone. Sharon and I are having a blast. I'm so relaxed, I may never go home, lol. I may have to wait for Sharon to wake up before we can post some pictures though. I'm not sure how - I'm a little lost without my own computer and programs, lol. Anyway ... I'll keep posting in this thread off and on. Hope you enjoy. ~*~ Lynn Canyon It’s early in the morning here, and what a lovely view, No matter what direction I can turn, there’s something new; The city shines from front porch steps, the mountains from the rear, A wondrous scene each way I look, to fill my heart with cheer. We went to such a gorgeous place, Lynn Canyon, it was called, We tried to take the bus, but they just looked at us, appalled; “It doesn’t run on Sunday.” They announced to us and said, “You’ll have to take this other bus, then walk the rest instead.” OK, I thought, no problem here, he said it’s just a block, So off we went, a little ride, then time for us to walk. Well, walk we did, and then some more … and then some more again, Just how long is a block out here? I wondered in my head. Well I can tell you this, my friends … a block’s a couple miles, But Sharon kept me laughing, and we took each step with smiles; We reached the entrance, stopped for lunch (it gave my feet a rest), Then off into the woods we went … for Mother Nature’s test. We reached a big suspension bridge, it swayed and bobbed and twirled, Way up above the rapids where the waterfalls unfurled; It was the most amazing sight, I could have stayed all day, We took some pictures, soaked it in, then headed on our way. We walked down trails and through the woods, passed ferns and towering trees, I smelled the pine, the moss, the scent of nature on the breeze; Oh, what a lovely feeling … nothing like it anywhere, The water churned, the rapids flowed … I didn’t have a care. I didn’t have a care that was, until I turned around, And saw how far that we’d descended, way below the ground; We’d reached the lowest trail, and then I saw the steps ahead, They looked as if they rose for miles … “We came THAT far?” I said. It may not sound that big a deal to someone who’s in shape, But I’ve been glued to office chairs for years with no escape; Well Sharon laughed, and said “Dear Kit, we’ll take it slow, my friend.” I laughed and said, “You bet we will ... my legs need time to mend.” We took our time, and up we went, I swore my ears would pop, But boy, I’m proud to say, I made it … right back to the top! It may sound silly, but I felt so great when I was done … I felt like “Rocky” at the top … “Yo Adriane … I won!” [This message has been edited by Kit McCallum (03-24-2003 03:17 PM).] |

There's nothing like new sights and friends To spark creative flames With views like that, I'm sure you've thought "I'm so glad that I came" But Kit and Sharon, there you are And in PA I sit It doesn't seem quite fair to me I'm jealous I'll admit I miss both of your smiling faces Your wit, your energy And I can't seem to help but wish Together were we three Kit, I'm happy you escaped The toils of your day And slipped up to Vancover To take some time to play Sharon dear, I know dear kit Is in the best of hands (Oh by the way, you surely didn't Show her all those plans) You see dear Kit, she thought that she Would get rest and relaxation Poor Kit never expected all your plans For her vacation Just keeping up with you my friend Will simply make her spent And she'll come home more tired Than she was before she went Kit and Sharon...I'm sooooooooooo jealous. Wish I were there with you both, although I'm not sure I could keep up with Sharon. Have a great time and thanks for the poems and pics to keep us involved Love Ya both!! Hey,Sharon and Kit,thank you for sending me your travel thread! It is so nice to see such love and friendship shared here and through "Passions".Janet Marie was able to see the sea for the first time because of Mark.During these uncertain days,it moves me to see the amount of giving and sharing due to our poetry passion.I really love the pictures. It looks so fresh and serene there. I've traveled near to you in Washington State back in '92.I was blessed to have an all-expenses paid trip there to play a song that I had written entitled,"If I Could Only Love You Again" for an AIDS benefit in Pasco/Richland/Kennewick.The road that lead to Mt.Rainier and Levenworth held some of the most glorious scenery I have ever had the privilege to witness. How is the weather up there now? Doesn't look like it's too cold.I'm glad you have the chance to be renewed,Kit.I'm sure all that beauty and your friendship with Sharon will inspire you. Thanks again for sharing this with me,Sharon. Peace to you,Geoffrey If a man has not discovered something he is willing to die for,his life is not worth living. |

Three hours you gained, I understand – At least you took a plane When I went there it took three DAYS – because I rode the train I told her of that pinch you’d need when you arrived at twelve I miss her too so if you please, give one to her yourself I hope you brought your hiking shoes, for Sharon’s roads incline She says they’re flat but that’s not so, they’re vertically aligned Lynn Valley’s really quite the sight, so sad you had to walk So far to that suspension bridge, I know of Sharon’s blocks… The good news is when you get home, there’ll be some fine cuisine For Sharon’s really quite a cook… with cake and good ice cream. Remember to remind her when it’s time to take it slow For if you don’t, she’s off again… with lots more stuff to show. Fret not about me, Deer and Sy – we’ll sit at home and pout With hoot and Liz and Isabel of that there is no doubt. Just keep on writing of your trek, and we will read your rhyme Pretending we’re all there enjoying a fantastic time. Don’t tell her that I said this but you may just want to chill. Mysteria does not know how to slow down or stand still. The answer’s simple, my dear Kit - with no ifs ands or buts, Just ask to watch a sunset and it’s sure to drive her nuts… [This message has been edited by Nan (03-25-2003 12:31 PM).] |

Thank you for the wonderful comments and poems everyone! LOL @ Ruth and Nan! I'm keeping pace with Sharon, and am pretty impressed personally how well I've been doing, considering this is the most exercise I've had in about 10 years, lol. I am truly loving it, and if I can keep this up when I get home, my dog will love the lengths of the walks she's going to get around a "BC block", lol. I wanted to write this one for Sharon this morning ... hugs to all ... ~*~ Grouse Mountain – As Strong As She I wondered as I saw her there, Majestic beauty, unaware; How could she know the hearts she’d stir, Within her realm of virtue pure. Her past though long, as glaciers reigned, Cut deep impressions that remained; And yet through all her strength and might, This beauty rose through endless night. She stands in awe of all who see, The force that lights her energy, A glow that brightens with the years, To shine above the cloudless tears. A thousand eyes may see her grace, An imprint left without erase; A view to warm the coldest heart, Impressions that would n’er depart. I wondered … as I saw her there, Her beauty touched by mountain air; Her face alight by sunset’s glow … If she knew why, she’d touched me so. Alas, she may not understand, The lives she’s stirred upon this land; Though thankful, I will ever be, To know a friend, as strong as she. /Kit McCallum [This message has been edited by Kit McCallum (03-25-2003 01:19 PM).] |

Hello Kit Thanks for allowing us to be a part of your journey, and what a wonderful journey it must be. The pictures are absolutely beautiful and I have no doubt that Sharon would be the perfect hostess. Canada has been on top of my list for some time as a must see place. If I had the money I'd be there in a flash but for now I'll see the beauty of Canada and its people through your eyes. Take care.......Sue I am in motion |

Hi everyone! Sorry we haven't checked in for a bit, but we're running about the town, having fun. We're having a lazy morning this morning, then off to Granville Island. I wanted to send a little update with some pictures before we go. Much appreciation to all, /Kit ~*~ A Love Affair Through Glass One week ago, my bags were packed and I was on my way, Ten days, I thought would surely be a rather lengthy stay; But here I am, a week’s gone by, and how the days have flown, It’s gone much faster than I could imagine, truth be known. With Sharon, as my hostess, and a warm and caring friend, It’s hard to think in three short days, this trip will somehow end; On Wednesday, we saw Bowen Island, via Horseshoe Bay, We rode the ferries back and forth to while away the day. On Thursday, we saw Stanley Park, oh what a sight to see … Aquariums and animals to set my spirit free! We saw the otters, dolphins, whales, some bugs, a croc or two, A hawk, some eels, and snakes, a sloth, and spiders … just a few. I have to say, the highlight though, was such a silly fish, He had a thing for Sharon … thought she was a sexy dish! The second that she walked up to the window and looked in, He darted ‘tward her there and then, and I saw Sharon grin. I swear it was the cutest sight, it really was a gas! This fish was blowing kisses right at Sharon, through the glass! He followed her no matter where she moved, he’d found his girl, When Sharon moved, he’d twist his head and follow in a swirl. He puckered up, she leaned right in, and gave him kisses too, It didn’t matter where she went, he followed her … it’s true! I swear he was in love with her, it really was a sight, I laughed until I cried - I think we could have stayed all night! Some people stopped to watch the show, amazed by what they saw, No kidding, it was quite the thing, they looked at her in awe! See, Sharon has charisma, not like anyone I know, It doesn’t matter who or what … life’s drawn toward her glow! This love affair was something else, oh yes, it was, you bet! I took a dozen pictures, so I never would forget! Alas, she broke his heart, for it was time to move away, He swam behind her sadly - tried to tempt his love to stay. He blew her kisses, waved his fins, in sadness and in woe, He hovered there behind the glass, but it was time to go; He had a thing for Sharon – my, he was a cutie pie, I think if fish could cry, he did … when Sharon said goodbye! /Kit McCallum |

Oh, Kit; I feel as though I've been right along on this journey! Hahahaha...the kissing fish..what a blast you guys are having...hugs, Ellie p.s. can we now call you the new Mrs Seuss? this poem is great! A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails. |

ROTFL at seeing this fish kissing episode. But what I want ot know is, what happened when you two stood by the tank with that humongous shark? Grouse mountain is totally awesome. The poetry in this thread is equally so. |

Is that the flag of surrender Sharon? LOL, You'll need to hide your street address or move soon, as it looks like half the Pips community will want to come for a visit! What a poetic paradise...Mysteria's Vancouver [This message has been edited by Midnitesun (03-30-2003 02:18 PM).] |

Thank you for the great comments everyone, and thanks for sharing in our memories. Here's some final pictures. :~) ~*~ Sharon … I can’t thank you enough … I had a blast, my friend. I’m off to work this morning, much more relaxed physically and mentally then I’ve been in a very long time. Thank you for everything, but mostly … for your incredible friendship and the fabulous memories! Love and hugs, /Kit ~*~ Our Final Daze Well Friday was a lazy morn, we rested most the day, Until about 2:30 in the afternoon, I’d say; We needed to relax our bones, we’d had a busy time, We’d seen the sights, we’d walked for miles, we’d reminisced in rhyme. We covered the itinerary Sharon had prepared, From Stanley Park to mountain tops – such memories, we shared; We had a lovely dinner at the Keg, near Granville Isle, Then off we went to see a show – live theatre, in style. The Improvivors were a hoot, “Survivor” was their theme, They did a take-off on the show, worked into every scene; They voted off the actors based on challenges and skits, We nearly split our sides from doubled-over laughing fits! The last few days we took it easy, shopping was in store, We slept in late, then afternoons were filled with sales galore; We found ourselves some clearance sales, the likes I’d never seen, And there was Sharon, having fun … she was a shopper’s dream! I followed in a frenzy, watched the master at her craft, She has a nose for bargains, never one to take the shaft; We oohed and ahhed at all the sales, and filled a couple bags, Amazed at all the bargains on those cute designer tags. By Sunday night, I will confess, my suitcase looked too small, I’d found too many bargains at the market and the mall, But Sharon was resourceful, “No dilemma, Kit!” she said, She’d found an extra suitcase for my overflow instead! We packed me up but still had time to laugh and have some fun, My trip was almost over, but the night had just begun; We talked and laughed and giggled till the wee hours of the night, Until the clock said one a.m. – we had to say goodnight. We set up two alarm clocks, just in case we missed the first, And caught a couple hours sleep before those buzzers burst; Now Sharon was a trooper, she woke up just after five, “Too early!” Sharon laughed … “I beat the sunrise!” Sakes alive! My taxi came by six o’clock – we said our last goodbyes, I waved as I went down the street, with teardrops in my eyes; My flight was uneventful as I nodded off to sleep, With memories of friendship that were mine and hers to keep. /Kit PS ... give Sheba a hug for me, Sharon ... |

I wish I had a poem inside and perhaps I do, but right now all I seem to find are knots, knots, and more knots, while these silly drops fill my eyes. I miss you big time, and the pleasure was all mine. I am still laughing about that site LOL. Sheba misses you and your gentleness she says. |

Just look at it this way Kit, you'll be pleased for if you do... 'cause Mysteria will need her bag - WHAT? A trip to come see you! She'll travel over all the miles simply to shop with you again she'll bring her laughter and her smiles I wonder when the trip will begin? Then we will have the pleasure once more of understanding what's in store when we open up a poem from Kit with Mysteria's laughter full in it! |

How much I wish I could have been on this vacation too You had such fun enticing all those fish there in the zoo I giggled with you both in spite of my not being there Had I shown up I know we'd give Vancouver quite a scare... I think that we should start to plan another Passions meet. Where should we go? Come here? Go there? For either would be neat... As long as we can play in rhyme, it matters not to me Let's do it - Let's all run away - How wondrous that would be.. |
