When she was young the world lay at her feet She could be anything at all. So she aimed high, set her sights on the sky, Never dreaming that someday she'd fall. And now her dreams have faded And now her dreams have died. She just couldn't seem to reach her dreams No matter how she tried. As she got older her dreaming took shape, and she wanted to sing without fail. But she soon found other people around, and their voices made hers seem to pale. And now her dreams have faded And now her dreams have died. She just couldn't seem to reach her dreams No matter how she tried. In her teen years she decided to act She'd hit the big screen one day. She knew in her heart that she'd get that big part Yet it never did work out that way. And now her dreams have faded And now her dreams have died. She just couldn't seem to reach her dreams No matter how she tried. Now as a woman she thought she might write, novels and fiction and rhyme. But she's scared to try, to reach for the sky, Afraid that she'll fall one more time. And now her dreams have faded And now her dreams have died. She just couldn't seem to reach her dreams No matter how she tried. |

Such a sad tale. It reminds me of one of my favorite lines from a song by Queensryche... "We see the lives of those who find the world has passed them by Too late to save a dream from growing cold" Always strive, no matter the odds... Nice job. I thoroughly enjoyed it. ~You might say I'm a Dreamer, but I'm not the only one... |

You've done a fine job of presenting the feelings of one who is apparently ready to give up. Sure hope she keeps trying, for the next time might just be the one that allows her to succeed. |

I really did love this poem. I can actually relate to the girl you're writing about...However, I still hope and I still dream and I'm still young...One day everything will happen that was meant to be. |

Kinda sounds like me..enjoyed..I'm soo afraid of failure in everything but I'm learning that it's all gonna be okie..that I shouldn't be afraid..hrm..or something like that..and thats why kiddies I don't do the comment thing very often..enjoyed..tho..I don't know personal experience? if so I totally know where you're coming from.. If at first you don't succeed destroy all the evidence that you tried. |
