Where would be the pleasant dreams, Do they wait for me on my pillow, Will they come to me on pale moonbeams That creep across this plain of shadow? Where would be a soothing sleep, No sadness or badness just the darkness, Nowhere to go or promises to keep, A quiet peaceful place of stillness. Now I lay me down to sleep, Pray that the world will keep Till I return from pillow To walk the shadow Once more. Gloom |
