Go a‘wandering, young one Down the dappled path Of this sylvan wood And maybe you’ll glimpse A nymph, a dryad A dream beyond your wildest Dragon-inhabited fantasies Go a’wandering, young one Down the leaf-strewn road Of another’s autumn And maybe you’ll notice A deserted inn at a crossroad The crying of a forlorn child And the songs of a lonely minstrel Go a‘wandering, young one Through the snow-stricken tundra Of the vicious north And maybe you’ll hear The wolf’s hungry song Heralding your arrival Frost’s quiet laughter Drifting like a whisper on the wind Go a’wandering, young one Through the ruined streets Of a City of fallen angels And perhaps you’ll remember The regretful words of a seraphim Exiled to this theatre of pain And the lonely, forgotten whisper Of a dead god’s memory Go a’wandering, young one Over the blood-dark sea Of a decaying, dying world And perhaps you’ll discover The crumbling ruins of Atlantis An ironic symbol of eternity In an uncaring twilight world Waiting for the night to end its torment Go a’wandering young one Over the rainbow bridge Of a child’s innocent fantasy And maybe you’ll reach out And pull the morning star from The sky’s black velvet embrace And maybe you’ll find your love Dancing within Death’s shadowy halls Go a’wandering, young one Through the dreams Of a wordless poet, a tuneless minstrel And maybe you’ll find The last unicorn That he’s been searching for The voice of an angel That he can no longer hear |
