Where does passion begin
is it the gentle touch of hand
or a whispered word
that is heard across the miles
lying in wait to comfort and forgive.

Or does it come from heartaches
that we wish to spare or console
simmering beneath the surface
until we are compelled to spill our emotions,
and act upon their fervor.

Remaining true to our convictions
so that our heart doesn't harden
and our faith doesn't falter
while processing our feelings
and the sorrow that can't be seen
disguising our tears
to fill a well with the passion we possess.

Or does it come in time with understanding
from lessons learned the hard way
acknowledging the wisdom
that compliments the true spirit of our affections
becoming a form of our compassion
however silent it remains.

Lots of good thoughts in here. Passion comes with a lot of things, at least I think so. I liked this, BluesSerenade.

Blues - as always - leave me thinking - this was lovely:

Or does it come from heartaches
that we wish to spare or console
simmering beneath the surface
until we are compelled to spill our emotions,
and act upon their fervor.

Heartache yes I do believe . . .  xxoo

This is beautiful, Lori. Makes the
reader think.

I personally think that passion
can come about from many different
reasons. Whatever the reasons are
that passion happens (about anything) I think
is good, because it is a very heartfelt
and individual thing.

If it's a couple, and passionate love, though,
it's really good if both feel it at the
same time, don't you think?

Hugs,
Ethel

I love the way you pose questions leaving the reader no choice but to go away trying to find the answers.  Another excellent poem!

I was reflecting on what makes my heart tic the way it does.  But there are no easy answers,  I simply can't help myself or pretend I don't care.

Thank you one and all, it's nice to be read.

I think that's a strong one...but I agree with all of the above and many more!

There is such deep truth to every aspect of this gem. When the heart, mind and soul reunion the clarity is that of clear springs.
So refreshing, and so nourishing.
I really liked this! TD

So I went to the dictionary and looked up passion. And there it was...your picture! No wonder you could write so well on this topic. Still watching for that book submission though.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
