Stockholm Syndrome The ties in this keep aren’t made of rope, no shiny bracelets caress my wrists, it’s more a change inside, one of hope a twist of mind that pushes, insists. And this strange form of rough, muslin dress, does reflect light in me, plain and pure. In dreams, thoughts of family are suppressed, what I do, to survive, to endure. I believe them now, what they tell me, I was chosen as one of his brides. By lying and praying quietly, I’ll receive the blessing he provides. © 2003 Core |

Insightful. Placing yourself within anothers' plight.....troubling. Done with deft understatement. Done with deep understanding. Solid work. |

You know I worry about this young girl...not because I don't have faith in her...but because I fear that her father doesn't consider the danger to his family when he allows drifter handymen that can not be trusted to come into his house to do odd jobs...James |

(sigh) This is very heartfelt, sweet friend, I don't much about this story so I can't really say my thoughts on it well but I can say your words deeply delve with sincerity! (big hugggssssss) This is powerful, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Corinne, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton "Underneath your clothes there's an endless story..." |

You show a gift of empathy--and there is so much to be said about this subject, that I'll give you a break and not even begin--chuckle! You covered the subject very well without my butting in... Enjoyed much, Corinne. |

Ed, James, Noah and Serenity Blaze - thank you! Noah, this is dedicated to Elizabeth Smart. One of the theories psychologists have for Elizabeth not escaping her captives is described as "Stockholm Syndrome," where the captives begin to trust and identify with their captors - the mind's way of self-protection and survival. Ed - it wasn't easy, and I'm really hoping it doesn't come off the wrong way. Sounds like from your take, it doesn't. Thank you! Core |

I think you've succeeded nicely, Corinne... The treachery mind games can do to people is frightful, isn't it? |

No, you did this perfectly. It could only be taken as a write from one that cares. From one that seeks to understand. |

I thought of Elizabeth Smart as soon as I saw the title. How sad what she went through. Thank you Corinne for helping us see how it was for her. Nice write. Elizabeth It's not having what you want, it's wanting what you've got... |

Agonizing thing to think about, but you handled it with such grace and empathy that it became a bit easier. A nice piece of writing, this. ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> |

interesting way of expressing a certain mind game that is as you say for our means of survival and was neatly portrayed in films like the Collector. |

Beautiful write, you have such a knack for creating the perfect mood and images to compliment them. As for our protaganist, while the situation surrounding it begs many questions, I'm just extremely happy she's safe and has been returned to her family. |

empathy indeed. . . well done, as always with that unique voice this can only be you. . . -------------------------------------------------------- To the world, you may only be one person. But to one person, you may be the world. |
