Beneath the sculpted temples' stones
awakened from their sleep.
Faint memories stir amongst the bones
that time has buried deep.

Within these ancient catacombs,
the resting place of men,
faint sounds begin to ululate,
their cries command the pen.

Un-just, our fate, to be entombed
before our time had passed.
Their breath pervades the silent gloom,
one bastion I hold fast.

This fortress of my sanity
without which I am doomed,
yet still, they do assail me,
their bidding come to bloom.

Dead flowers drawn of pen and ink
in garden of repose.
My words, more theirs, than mine, I think,
as walls around me close.

Might voices span the centuries
long after flesh is dust?
Then mine shall join that chorus too,
repaid, in kind, I trust.

This is amazing and it just flows out the mouth like a smooth cognac, very well done.
Might I suggest you submit this?

Jason,
Thank you for your kind comments, they are appreciated. At present I have no intention of submitting anything for publication. This may change (most things do), but,for the time being, I'm perfectly content to post here. Thanks again.

And just why isn't this a book submission, Doc?  Hmmmm?  Must I beat you over the head with my feathered quill?  Must I?  It's marvelous...and would fit so well in the pages of Reflections....

do reconsider, puh-leeze?

Sunshine,
Thanks,(ouch!, quit hittin' me will ya?). Seriously, I was priveledged to be in the first "Voices", and all things considered, I know there are only limited available chances for others to share that priveledge. That being said, I still decline, but, am most appreciative of your comments.Being published is an honor, but, as far as I'm concerned, I'm being published right here.
