Catbird’s Song

Catbird sitting in
the dead gone tree…
she’s shrilling sounds
of mockery,
wish she’d sing
a song so pure
she lets me know
my love is sure

here she comes
swooping down on me
mockin’ sounds
of rivalry,
takes o’er yard like
she knows it’s hers
lets me know my
love is sure

soft gray wing,
she floats on air,
takes up orphans
for to care,
she clucks, then coos,
she even purrs,
lets me know my
love is sure

catbird, catbird,
stay me home
ne’er too far
should you roam,
come and thrill
the cockleburs,
let me know
my love is sure.

Karilea - This is grand. The birds were singing their little hearts out to-day after such a harsh winter. Enjoyed reading this to-night. hugs, Chris

Thank you, my ladies...even though
the catbird can be quite ornery...
its voice CAN fill the air with
beautiful music, even IF stolen...

I like this very much, Sunshine... the rhyme and rhythm fall softly and leave a big smile. *S*

You phrase the thanks we all feel when we're content with our love.  Sometimes I have to work a bit to find your meaning, which is good.  This one just flies right in.  KJ

You've got me, Krawdad...it's just one of those silly songs that come along now and then...   If I figure it out, you'll be the first to know!

Thanks for enjoying, everyone!

The catbird may be a master of mimicry but you, Karilea, are a true, pure poetess..

believe in what your heart feels...
