I just want you to love me... the way that Adam loved Eve Like David loved Bathsheba the way Nelson loved South Africa enough to forfeit freedom I need a... devotion like Jacob's....when he slaved to win his Rachel and even when tricked and given Leah he kept working for his true angel I want your pulse to race at sight of me your heart to increase its beating your mouth to go dry and your palms to sweat like men did in the presence of Nefertiti I need thee to love me like the Shulamite woman did Solomon the way the Father loved His only Son the way a thirsty soul loves water the way daddy's love their only daughters Love me so deeply that it will consume me drown me in its purity blind me til I can't see and I promise I will love you in return with a passion and fervor that hotly burns I will love you like Angela Davis loved the revolution love you as deeply as the Sphinx's convolution Adore you the way that Cyrano De BerGerac adored Roxane Care for you the way Mother Theresa revered her fellow man You are my hero and my king the love song I was born to sing To you I give my mind, my soul, and my body freely and all I need in return is just for you to love me. |
