Blasphemy runs like blood over a plastic crucifix onto Swaggert's secret stash of Hustlers "I have sinned: yet belittle the sheep for following the shepard alterboys in father Brian's "private" chambers paying penance for lost innocense as the staue of Jesus drips another tear of blood before crashing on the floor below unheard beneath the droning noise of mindless ritual except the old mexican Janitor who cleans up the pieces and puts up a new one in its place walking away cursing in spanish about cheap Japanese merchandise. |

Yep, more plastic iconology than anyone can possibly revere. My neighbor in California had a plastic Mary, plastic Jesus, and a furry dog figurine whose head wobbled up and down... all mounted to his dashboard. I never did figure out which one he favored the most, as they all seemd to have equal an foothold in his old Chevy. but then I know there is much more to this post than the icons indicate. was watching some clergy from several denomanations having a go at each other on Larry King the other day and it brought to mind those little flesh colored Christs that glow in the dark and just what is really considered sacred.enjoyed your write. Live like it's your last day... |

Loved this more than you know. Funny how a religion who's WORD is against the worshipping of idols has and sells myriads of them. |

"I have sinned: yet belittle the sheep for following the shepard alterboys in father Brian's "private" chambers paying penance for lost innocense" The meaning behind the above words were certainly not lost on me. The irony, the truth, the brilliance. Left me shaking my head in absolute astonishment. So much more than well done!! Susan |

Brad, I saw beyond your words of the plastic figurines in this one. I think sometimes when people condemn others, they forget that they themselvs have had to beg forgiveness...if not for the identical thing they are condemning, something equally wrong and immoral. People should always think from where they have come, and to have a forgiving spirit for others. Hugs, Ethel |

certainly a sadness in much of what we see, but to think that, too, when He was in the flesh, He was rejected by so many as if He were something ordinary "What good can come from Nazereth?" they asked. It does no good to love the image if one does not know the Shepherd and the image is not the Shepherd, but perhaps a reminder and a statement that can only be backed up by one's life. Really enjoyed the read, quite provocative, you see. Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |
