The Homecoming It’d been three years since she had seen him The man who stood before her now His hair was long, his face had grown trim And creases gathered on his brow She thought back to those days of grieving The man she told she’d be his wife So many months now, since his leaving It felt like someone else’s life Her mind recalled that fateful letter The presidential seal enclosed And caused her hopes to all unfetter Within the words of death disclosed She cried because he never learned Of his own child who daily grew This father whom they said had burned The son whose dad he never knew But she had never stopped believing And for that reason, never wed Though all this was beyond conceiving Here stood the man they said was dead She listened as he spoke the phrases That voiced the depths he’d had to roam Then captured him in warm embraces “Love always finds its way back home” ~ Ruth If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it. Now here's a poet who knows the importance of issuing a hanky warning... Ruth...it does happen... miracles occur every day... thank you, my dear! |

Ruth, How perfectly precious. The title is just right. Giving hope from the start. Love the roller coaster of emotions in this. I love happy endings, and you wrote it in so well. Enjoyed greatly, Hugs, Pat ..without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.. |

This was a wondeful, touching poem. Thanks for the warning, by the way. *sniffles* I've always been a sucker for miracles. That's what we, as heroes, do. We live as if the world were like it should be, to show the world what it could be. |

You weren't joking about the kleenex. Beautiful poem, and I hope that the last line is true. The hardest thing to do is watch the one you love, love another. |

I will write exactly what I spoke aloud to myself when I finished reading it... "damnit!".... now I'll explain for some reason, whenever I cry over something special/sappy/sad, etc. I show my disdain for crying at ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING by saying that LOL that was awesome and I can only imagine the relief/joy/etc...that woman felt. |

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Ruth, this is so beautifully heartaching, sweet friend, this made me cry knowing that love has many possibilities but him having to be apart from her for a while! (wipes tears) My prayers are with them both, sweet friend, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ruth, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton "Underneath your clothes there's an endless story..." |

Thank you all for your kind comments. I truly believe that through all, love will find its way home, or at least back to where it belongs Perhaps that's why I keep coming back to this place |
