I've heard a lot of complaining about Bush bashing but take a look at these two links and tell me which campaign is going negative.
http://www.georgewbush.com/
http://www.johnkerry.com/front/22/index.html

If you just want the straight dope without bias here are the sites to get it without any hyperbole.

http://factcheck.org/default.aspx
This site looks at political advertisements from both sides of the campaign and rates their veracity.
What a surprise.  Both sides lie, exagerate, and don't tell the whole truth.

http://www.vote-smart.org/
This site has raw information on any candidate running in any campaign.   You can get voting records, pac ratings, where they stand on the issues... except -- for G.W. and John K.   They won't say where they stand on the issues.

http://www.opensecrets.org/
And at this site you can see exactly who is in who's back pocket.

Or you can go to the gov. home page and look up voting on bills too.

You know sometimes those sites don't tell the whole truth either.....

I perfer voting records personally. Star tribune and other news papers give alright records.

I don't trust propaganda scemes and party homepages. I only check out the platform there and compare past news papers and voting records.
Then I go with the guy that goes more accurately with my own belifs.

it actually doesn't matter, I am extreeemly conservative. Its alot of work for nothing, but at least I know 3what the guy I am voting for stands for.

Unfortunately Raph, facts are obviously too boring for an election year.

Which is why we should amend the Constitution so that elections are held at random moments notice like musical chairs...!!

That would keep them hopping.

Reb -- I think the opensecrets link told the whole story.  I'm always hearing with detective stories, to get to the real criminal, follow the money trail.  Well, that's exactly what I think about political races, and that link sure told me everyting I was certain of anyway from my own research.  Thanks a bunch for all the information.

Oh, and one of the articles I scanned on one of the other links mentioned that Kerry was wrong in saying new salaries were $9000 less.  Now, I'm going to go back and read that in depth....but my initial impression was they left out the "benefits" factor in their review.  I know that benefits are being slashed right and left, even with some of the bigger companies -- and I always believed that was part of the overall package.  Thanks again.
