I know that The Alley is for gripes and complaints. I know that everyone has there opinion on things too. What I can't understand is why some poeple have to do personal attacks on other people when they are only spouting their opinions or trying to find out the truth about things..
I know that being rude to me doesn't help me to learn anything; it only makes me feel like I'm in Jr High.
Why can't the attack go where it is meant to? More to the subject and not to the person at all?

Love,
Lady

Very good point, my dear. Exactly what I think myself, at times.

Good point, Ladycat. You've hit the nail in the head with your comment about feeling as if you are in Jr. High when someone slams you. I feel the same way. And I know that everyone has opinions, and we can't do anything to change those opinions.

It isn't the opinion that causes problems. It's the way the opinion-or a reply to an opinion-that causes rudeness and whatever else.

Have a nice day!

I know how you feel Lady... Let the poet who turn harsh have the same repayed, but no by me for I would not want to reap the same reward....

I totally agree with you here, Ladycat. If I wanted to be slammed, I'd go back to JR. High..(which I don't, considering I just got out of the place, phew!) Thanks for bringing this up. Lets try and be nice to each other!

I'm with ya, Miss Cat. Another suggestion I would make is....let's keep things in the alley. I think that's what it was created for. UNfortunately, it appears to spill over into the forums, which is sad, by some who decide to shun poetry created by one they've had an alley spat with and, sadder than that, by influencing others to do the same. There should be no place for petty behavior like this in A poetry site dedicated to peace, harmony and good feelings. We are not armed camps....we are people brought together by our love of the written word. Leave your gripes here. When you venture into the poetry forums, be a poet.

I've read every entry in the Alley today, and I saw some heated responses to some competent, well-thought and well intentioned remarks. I saw discussions of poetic preferences turn into spiteful mud-slinging because some could not accept the ideas of others.

Rudeness in this Alley, it seems, was followed by the inablitity to accept the views of another. Sadly, this inability was demonstrated by the very soul who sought the views of others. Ultimately, rudeness has no place on this website whatsoever, and reversion to rudness in defense of one's own insecurities is something that each of us will have to wrestle with alone.
